Is Bush trying to make matters worse on purpose?
Edited on Sat Sep-03-05 12:32 PM by DoYouEverWonder
Look we've done hurricanes and floods before. Both of these are survivable events if the proper steps are taken. Relatively few people die in the US in this day and age from hurricanes and flood any more.

Most of the deaths that we are seeing in the NOLA disaster were completely preventable. After the storm passed and the flood waters came in, the people who survived and had gotten to the shelters could have been easily taken care of. We've did this in Florida last year after 4 hurricanes. We had people living in shelters for months and not a single death except for natural causes.

It seems that in this disaster Bush is doing everything he can to stall, slow things down and when help does come it's inadequate. He is preventing even the Red Cross from coming and doing their job. Why?

Why? Because he doesn't want to save the people of the New Orleans. He wants more people to die. That's the only thing that makes sense to me at the moment.

2. This is what they mean by smaller government
Remember when Jeb wished for a day when all the government buildings in Tallahasse would be empty. This is what they were talking about.

4. Oh, he desperately wants this to
get better and just go away. Too bad. He's made such a mess of this that he can't make it go away. Even another photo op in NOLA won't help.

He is just plain incompetant. Clueless.

THe whole world is watching and seeing him for what he is. Useless in the face of disaster.

5. I honestly don't think so.
Not that I doubt they would kill off thousands for political advantage--we all know they would do that, having done it before. But this whole thing has been very damaging for Bush. He has not benefited from this and won't.

The scales are falling from people's eyes now. Yesterday, when I went to work, a colleague grabbed me by the arm and dragged me outside to tell me how furious she was at Bush. This is a woman who voted for him twice, but the final straw for her was seeing him on tv that morning saying that people "needed to be patient." She was so angry she was near tears, and she is not alone right now.

6. They are in control of everything now
What happens when they start turning off the taps. Turning off the gas or the food supply? Then what? They just did it to the people of NO, when are they going to do it to the rest of us?

This is why Bush is so smug. This is why he doesn't give a shit.

8. Some things up, QC.

And still the Republican's I know are spitting mad at the liberals over this. I just had a talk last night with a Republican 'friend'. His first words were a big tirade about how everyone's blaming Bush. "did Bush cause the hurricane?" Lot's of anger in his voice. As if he could see things were going wrong but it must be some liberal plot to screw the president.

I think the goal is to divide the nation. Like in NO, to cause riots and let the Red stater's point to that and say "see!", while the Blues say ..."well look at the conditions". I don't understand the game plan but the goal is to divide, very cleanly, the nation into two camps. Then paint one as patriotic, religious, hardworking, (white, and Christian?). What is the final goal? I don't know.

thinking outloud,
