Just dropped some WATER from a helicopter!
Edited on Sat Sep-03-05 12:59 PM by goclark
CNN is just showing it.
They are going from house to house and dropping food/water to victims who have houses that are flooded.

Could this have been done sooner or what!!!!!

1. To paraphrase what George would say to you...

There's no way anyone could have thought of doing airdrops before now!!!!

For days people have been saying to do it but nothing happened.

14. It's amazing what the military can do when properly deployed.
All it really takes is semi-competent civilian leadership -- something that's hard to kick out of a rear echelon foxhole these days.

Right.

Bastards need a wake up.

19. There was a middle age man

that waded out to grab the case of water and he was swimming easily back to his house with the package.

I believe it said that they did a food drop AND a water drop.

Surprise, surprise!

I think I heard them say that it was the Los Angeles Police helicopter but they could have been saying the Louisiana (LA) helicopter did the drop.

Armed thugs were shooting down helicopters. That's why there wasn't any relief. :sarcasm:

that they just flipped to ?

He is saying that "we have a President that would ? heaven and hell to make this work and ? people."

He met with the President today and the President on and on.

"Going to break the mold with how they respond."

5. What a great idea. Why didn't we think of this sooner -- oh,
we here at DU did. I am very glad this stuff is happening now. That, by no means, excuses that these thing weren't done DAYS ago. This slow response can not be forgotten, forgiven or excused.

13. Some said - not on this report - that all the high wires
interfered with the ability of helicopters to really get down.

Would this be correct?

17. That's bullshit. The same people will point out that the wires are down.
The choppers lower the bundles on cable releases. Lighter boxes, where the contents are waterproof (like MREs) can be dropped from 100' - far higher than the wires.

18. No.
There are plenty of wire-free areas.
And you can drop from above the wires.
Most of the wires are down and dead anyway.

15. It was because of me.
On Thursday Gov. Blanco said "We need to get these people to food, water, and shelter NOW!"

I sent her an e-mail and said "No, you need to get food, water, and shelter TO these people NOW! Get them fed and rehydrated. Drop some tarps or tents. Get them out of the elements.
THEN start sorting out how to get them out of there.
Don't let them keep dying while you're trying to figure out the logistics of mobility."

OK, I'm sure she never read my e-mail, but at least I tried.

Maybe you were the tipping point for this message.

I hope they play the clip again.
You will not believe it.

They have this Bush lapping clown from the Feds back talking to get them out of this mess.

I must say he is a better speaker than Brown from FEMA but he has excuse after excuse.

30. Let me think a minute... hmmm...YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One of the Congressmen in Florida called it rampant bureaucracy. I personally think we're seeing what happens when you try to privatize. Nobody knew who was supposed to be doing what, and everyone was following a book that obviously was inadequate.
