The poor people of NO were SACRIFICED on the altar of partisan politics
Edited on Sat Sep-03-05 02:01 PM by Walt Starr
Stay with me here.

The Busheviks COVET all governorships, especially those in red states held by Democrats.

The Busheviks THOUGHT they could hold off giving the go for Northcom to begin rescue operations and allow Blanco (D) to take the blame.

What the Busheviks never counted on was a group of unfettered journalists on the ground in New Orleans bearing WITNESS TO THE ATROCITIES! They counted on a sycophantic press corps happily going along with the "had Blanco only acted responsibly" spin.

Now they are in FULL OUT CYA MODE and it is all falling apart!

OMG. A group in Florida wanted to volunteer to bring in 500 air boats
to help in the rescue efforts.

FEMA "emphatically" refused. They said they had to CONTRACT OUT for that and couldn't use volunteers.

Republican Rep. Mark Foley just said that on MSNBC.

UN.F#$KING.BELIEVABLE!

2. They're shipping the people out to scattered FEMA camps now
That's right, the REX 84 concentration camps. They're not being given food or water. Not in the Superdome. Not in their "new surroundings" either.

3. totally agree
it's hard to know what is going on when you're in a bubble, they also
never anticipated that this would be televised 24/7. They truly are
aloof and this time their lies were obivious because of the live
coverage.

4. Were? They still ARE!
Thousands are STILL in NOLA, dying with no food or water. And Bush has done NOTHING but put on a little photo-op.

5. I'm saying every last one of them left in the city on Sunday night
They never planned on saving a single one of them.

Not one.

It only started happening when the outcry was too great.

10. The worst thing to see on TV is
when their helicopters fly over houses, people on roofs wave their hands and hold up signs saying "HELP!"

I hope Bush pays for this, I really do.

9. Thank God for those journalists
I believe you are 100% correct. Things would be much worse,if that can even be imagined, had it not been for the truth that they showed the American people.

11. I think it's race, class, and partisan politics
I NO had voted Repug and the survivors were white and rich, help would have arrived on Monday or Tuesday. There is no excuse for locking folks into the dome and convention center for a week. I will never forgive nor forget this evil action.

12. They also covet the real estate development opportunities
You can see it in Bush's discussion of priorities. He mentioned Trent Lott's beachplace, the oil refineries and busnesses. None of these priorities required actions such as evacuation, search and rescue, but they did require a rapid response against looting and other destruction of property.

Partisan politics was the frosting on the cake.
