About the cruise ships:
If they are going house families with children, I hope they are preparing for displaced teachers, social workers, and health care and mental health professionals to join them. Some form of schooling should be provided along with medical and mental health care, social services, recreation etc. It can be done easily IF there is proper planning and organization. I know that teachers, doctors, lawyers, and all kinds of specialists were among the displaced...their skills should not go unused. While these families will be located in a single place with intercom and all types of communications technology available, the best use should be made of these resources to explain, educate, and inspire those who will be aboard. There is nothing like offering hope to the hopeless. The ships can be joined from time to time with construction employers who are seeking help for rebuilding, cleanup etc. and who will pay the men decent wages for good work. When the six months are up, many would be able to use their pay to make a fresh start on land. I would rather see the money going to these men, many of whom are skilled, than to Halliburton.

1. They will end up housing FEMA workers and government & Halliburton people
mark my words.. Those plush floating palaces will not be housing poor people and their kids.

5. So what for god's sake. We dumped that much down the Halliburton-
Iraq toilet and much, much more! I'll just pretend I didn't see this.

8. They need long-term housing. This will only work as a very temporary
measure.

4. I am really hoping that ships will be used to help "the least of these"
It would really be bad for cruise line PR is this doesn't serve the most needy.

6. Think about why they are putting these people on ships?
It makes it a lot easier to quarantine them if there's a problem? Then what happens when they are out at sea? The Superdome on steroids?

9. Remember a couple of years ago when people kept getting sick
on cruise ships. This is going to make those boats look like trial runs.
