CNN just ran a piece showing photos of African-Americans in New Orleans, asking if race and class were factors in the botched relief efforts.

What was shocking is that the voice-over from the reporter in NY said the following...

..."If they had voted...or voted differently, for stronger leaders..."

What the fuck? If they had voted Republican, they would have been rescued faster? Hell yeah, like the Republican government gave a damn!

About the federal government, he means the local government. And I actually agree with him that they could have elected better represenatives. When I look at it all, they needed leaders who were not like Mayor Nagin but more like Governor Howard Dean.

They needed to elect stronger democrats IMO, the type that take no bullshit from republicans or others. However none of it exscuses the indifference and tragedy that has happened I just thought of it.

Already we are hearing Republicans comment about Louisiana's governor (Dem) and New Orleans mayor(Dem) acting "too slowly". Republicans will try this spin in small doses right now to see if it takes. (They have implied, in Mississippi, the Republican governor, is "doing much better".) If there are not too many objections to this spin....or no one calls them on it...they will change focus from Bush's accountability... to the Louisiana's governor's and the New Orleans mayor's accountability.

They will do ANYTHING to get the focus off of Bush.
