Why are they taking the cigarettes away? |
|
I can sort of understand why the managers of the evacuation are confiscating alcohol, since many people get angry when drunk, but why are they confiscating cigarettes? Smokers who can't smoke when under stress also get angry; it seems to me they wouldn't want to risk that...

20. It was in New Orleans, as people were getting onto buses to get out |
|
The statement was something like "alcohol, tobacco, and other contraband are being confiscated."

If you can deal with withdrawal while going through THAT kind of stress you can deal with anything! :sarcasm:
Seriously, that makes no sense though.

I'd live in my car or anywhere else before I'd go to a shelter that deprived me of my cat and my cigarettes.

No one wants to be stuck in some football stadium as a refugee and have to endure someone else smoking. That would only worsen the air condition.

:sarcasm: Exercise and a bible is what ** was concerned about when the Chinese shot down our spy plane and took the crew hostage, he wanted to know if they had bibles and were being allowed to exercise. Pinhead!

22. I can think of a few valid reasons |
|
1. If you are going to house people in a shelter with others that be asthmatic or who have other lung problems. 2. If they are afraid the cigarettes are "doctored", less likely but could be.
I understand that smokers are addicted to their cigs but as an asthmatic I would really hate to be in a shelter with someone who would be chain smoking as it would end up putting me into an ICU unit.
