If Republicans are seen getting rid of a corrupt Republican political leader, people will trust your party and you will continue to be a powerful force in the political landscape of the USA. Look at Watergate, your party lost in 74 and 76 but gained seats in 78 and took the White House and Senate in 1980 with significant gains in the House.
