I didn't catch the whole thing, but NPR was doing phone interviews with survivors. Many were heartbreaking, but one was almost funny.
A guy in the French Quarter spoke about how he annd his neighbors banded together to pool resources and have been living as well as anyone could, given the circumstances.
They drained hot water tanks so they had water, the guy down the street gave away all his produce so they had that to eat, and they've been cooking on grills.
They even started cleaning debris in their area.
Even still, they can't get any word from authorities and no one has brought them anything, and they have no idea how long they'll be there. And even the produce store that helped them out was burned down.
There is such an amazing range of what's happened to people in NO. These guys did okay, people at the convention center suffered terribly.
