HOLY SHIT! Even Bill Frist is MAD!

Senate to review federal handling of hurricane

WASHINGTON The U-S Senate will take a critical look at the federal handling of Hurricane Katrina.
Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist of Nashville called for hearings to begin once the relief and recovery effort is complete.

They would be held by the Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee, chaired by Senator Susan Collins of Maine.

Collins, a Republican, has said there was (quote) "an immense failure" in how officials responded to the hurricane.

Congressman Harold Ford of Memphis lambasted President Bush on Thursday, calling his response to the hurricane (quote) "weak and uncertain."

--------------------------------------

CNN reported awhile ago that Frist is at the NO airport assisting medically and is criticizing the distribution of medical help. Said that many, many people were dying there.

Whoa. Break out the smelling salts, I need some.

13. I am not sure what we have got in the bigger towns but in most places we
are still pencil and paper. (I do think I have heard rumors that DIEBOLD is trying to get in, so I think they are not here yet.)

But it won't hold any water once they start the investigation. Homeland Security was officially in control.

Okay, he does want to be president and this does contrast him w/Bush.

Still, he wants to abolish the estate tax permanently. And I don't.

17. Blaming Nagin and Blanco is just flak
It's "suppresive fire" in the war of words, because nearly all the responsibility lies with Bush and his team of crack idiots. (Or would that be idiot ***cracks?)

To hell with what the Republican Talking Points say -- let's ask the survivors who messed up.

that Shrub has completely lost his mind. Being a Doctor isn't there any way Frist could deem Bush unfit for duty or something? We need a coup from inside right now congress and the senate. This has gone way beyond parties.

34. Ford takes a page from the Republican playbook: hit 'em on their strengths
The only real political asset Junior has is that he's the big, butch leader who's unafraid to make the hard decisions and act upon them. Forget the fact that they poll more than anyone and that everything is politically motivated, the image is MANLY. It's the hero-worship of the tough, swaggering individual who'll look 'em in the eye and face 'em down.

Obviously, nothing is further from the truth with a megacoward like this little nobody, and to call him "weak and uncertain" is a stake in the heart of the pretense by which he lives. Good.

according to one of the posts in this thread.

Well, he's half right.

But I bet he still tries to push through his estate tax bill this next week.
