I've posted this in the LA group but no response.
I have a colleague whose relative is in her apt, in the 2900 block of Le Page with family and OK. A message was left telling them that they went out in a boat to the store and have food for a week until the power comes on---some have been evacuated from the building but this one and her family decided to wait it out. Obviously they don't know that they *must* leave as they think the power "might be out a couple of weeks!" and that the military is there now so "all is going to be fine" It sounded as though a voice mail was left with one of the relatives when she got to the phone on that boat trip to the store.
the big problem was not being able to take the cats and no sense of what things are really like and that they must leave. Apparently they have someone who will meet them to get out in a group to Baton Rouge where there is shelter at LSU with their group from the U of New Orleans. No one has a clue how to get a message to this woman or even if one can be gotten in----anyone in contact with anyone in that area or know about the conditions in that area of Le Page in N.O.
I'm just putting this out in one more place in hope that someone might have an idea---- I have the message, if anyone can help, please PM me
thanks, and, btw, I have no stand on the issue of not evacuating for the sake of your cats and I've already heard the pros and cons so please no more of that. This is just an attempt to put the request out in one more place
