4. http://www.wwltv.com/
A major TV station in NOLA, webcasting out of facilities in BR.

The Katrina Blog on their web site is also the best place for all the latest bulletins on the situation.

6. wwltv.com...
Nagin says that the evac of Superdome is going much better...
Convention center is starting today in earnest...
17th street levee repair is getting better...
He's really worried about the civil servants - he says they're cracking, wants to get people some rest

Thinks things are slowly getting better, or at least things are not getting steadily worse like they were...

7. He made a joke about if they saw the CIA tell them to turn around go away.
He's really worried about the police, fire, doctors...
He told the * people are dying, hatever issues on power structure need to be fixed, he thinks things are getting better...

Dead body extraction is next priority...

The nation is starting to demand things get better, not just me...

8. satisfied with progress being made...

- still some people needed to evacuate at Superdome and Convention center
- 25.000-30.000 already evacuated from superdome
- draining of water will begin within few days
- potable water within 24h
- reporter asks if he's concerned that it took so long for federal response, that it took some harsh language from the mayor for stuff to kick in...nagin jokes if there are CIA agents around

- still concerned about fires in city, no water-pressure

- next phase, body extraction not quite ready for that yet

10. FEMA has responsibility for removing bodies...
Doesn't know how the dead bodies will be handled - cremation or burial...

Parts of the city where you still can't get unless helicopter...

NG is seeing bodies, but no counts... he thinks hundreds possibly thousands

You can't come home till evac done, secure city, drain city, clean debris and make sure safe to get back, then make sure no diseases here... Bodies in water 4-5 days... Mosquitos and larva spreading disease is a possibility... Asking for spraying...

12. Biggest mistake?
He says the gov and prez acknowledge they all could have done a much better job...

Kinda dodged it, says he's sure people will analyze the mistakes...

Ok, that was it... And now they're saying the Superdome is now EMPTY! really empty... Thank God...

13. Reporter saying the NG are absolutely exhausted that are there...
same with police...

Just a few people at Hyatt...

Convention center is busy, lots of copters, NG... mood is bad, people there for 4 days in unlivable conditions, frustration at where they are going, will they ever be able to come home... fleets of buses back and forth...

Haven't heard them talk about the victims on I-10 yet...

14. Lots of people at convention center in shock...
fatigue exhaustion ... described a man trying to eat a candy bar... he could barely get it to his mouth, and was having trouble eating... some people unaware that the buses are there because they are in shock...

As you head west toward Baton Rouge very busy mix of buses and vehicles...

No news yet on the hospitals or schools that had survivors that I've heard...

15. People leaving don't know where they are going...
They ask the reporter - he doesn't know...

Still a lot of confusion... Saying Delay (barf) didn't know what's going on...

Focus still on getting water, food, a blanket to these people still...

Kids faces show disbelief... Some are still just 'being kids', some babies are dehydrated...

16. I-10 evac looks pretty complete...
There were thousands there, but they are actually cleaning up the mess and then they will be getting the I10 causeway open for transport...

A guy they interviewed said that the situation to the east is horrific... they are wading through bodies to get to people where the water is still standing...

Archbishop Hughes is there now... Asking people to sign up at the back of the churches where they find refuge so they can deploy priests to help the people...
