A Word for Lurking Political Leaders (Dems)
We want you to place Republicans' balls and ovaries in a vice. We don't want nicey nicey, especially right now. This is a time for genuine anger... this is not a time for political correctness.

When you play nicey nicey you lose your grassroots base. The real party. You also play down the severity of the GOP's lack of leadership and demean your own leadership qualities as well.

Don't fuck this one up. Be an opportunist by letting America see how much you really care about it!

Done.

4. Exactly.
If you show a sign of hesitation, they will shove through it and mow you down.
Be firm. Be resolute. Don't take prisoners.
They fucked up and they fucked up big.

6. As the mayor said, get off your asses and do something that for
the poor people down there. Take a cue from Al Gore and go over the stupid president's head; do something on your own to help. Your silence even makes me think you can't be bothered by the mess down there.

25. You mean volunteer to go help and get turned back?
Or give money to the Red Cross that isn't allowed in either? Here's a clue--the reasons for those things are political, therefoe the solution must be political.

8. It is time to do that....Show what democrats are really about: Compassion!
At the very LEAST they all need to fly into New Orleans and just completely save everyone they can, and get on TV doing it! It is time for that response and long past due.

12. I got a call from Kerry camp today asking for funds for
child-health care bill. I was sorry to say no - but I did because I needed to use the call to make a point: I will support *nothing* that any Dem does until they stand up for the lives of the people of NOLA (and MISS and ALA). I told them I haven't seen any Senate Dem stand up on this - Kucinich and members of the CBC in the house have, but no Senators. I told him that when I see Kerry screaming at the top of his lungs on the floor of the Senate to save the people of NOLA then and only then will I consider supporting him again.

The man on the phone told me once at the top of the call that it 'may be recorded for quality assurance' -- and when I started ranting about the stolen election of 2004 and the devastation of NOLA he repeated again that the call may be recorded and then I could hear my voice echoing as he recorded me.

My final sentence was that if we can't manage to save the people of NOLA then we should all be damned to hell. At that point I was crying and hung up.

I pray that my voice - and those of other Americans who are stunned and shocked and enraged - will be heard.

I chalk up his death to the Bush crime family hit squad. Probably a lot of other prominent Dems suspect that, too.

16. Don't appreciate the crude fucking ugly bullshit
and neither will your Congressional representatives.

There is a range of expression b/w being what you call "nicey nicey" and being a crude asshole.

The energy and emotion in your message might be more effective crafted in a more constructive way.

Possible DU could be the place we could all learn more about how to do that.

If you send a letter, Congressmembers' offices multiply your letter by the number of other people they estimate thought about the same things and didn't write.

18. I Will Write that Letter
...but the expression of ugly emotions needs to remain intact. It's a genuine expression of anger, the kind I want to hear from them. Let them get offended... people are dying!

Thank you though for the constructive criticism.

21. X 1,000 or more-- maybe DU knows what the multiplier is
There is a different one at each level of government, gets bigger at the national level.

I'm with ya on the "genuine" and "expression of anger" part. I don't mind if they "get offended"-- yet your comment as posted seemed like your point might get missed (the emotion wouldn't. obviously )

Thanks fer seeing these comments as constructive. I think getting the word out right now, in our communities and to the Congress, is extremely valuable.

The part where your message might lose some folks is that it infers that "nicey nicey" and "political correctness" are the problem. The ending is a bit jokey.

In between you have a very strong statement:

"You also play down the severity of the GOP's lack of leadership and demean your own leadership qualities as well."

Participating in the political process does involve some formalized courtesy. George Galloway showed with a few clear sentences how pretentious and phony the American Congressional protocol has become.

However, if you watch the DVD from the Conyers' DSM hearings, it is striking to watch Joe Wilson and Ray McGovern, both of whom know EXACTLY what is going on, sit there and proceed through the steps, through the process, using the language and forms of the system that we have.

That's how the game is played. The problem that we have is that THE GAME IS RIGGED. The people we want to reach in Congress are there to play it. It's beyond "nicey nicey"--they are in fear for their lives.

We can give them language that they can use as firepower as we DEMAND THAT THEY REPRESENT THE AMERICAN PEOPLE IN DEMANDING ACCOUNTABILITY FROM AN ADMINISTRATION THAT HAS SQUANDERED THE LIVES OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE ON THE BATTLEFIELD AND IN A DISASTER ZONE.

How's that for a "genuine expression of anger"?

:hi:

17. Outrage is the only response that is acceptable right now.
Usually the dems seem to sit around and wait for something to happen. Get on this NOW!! Step up, take control and feel free to criticize. The repubs would already be digging the dems graves if the situation was reversed!

31. The fucklicans disarm with nice... We are way beyond being nice.
I called Hasert's office talked to some guy.

I was talking about how horrible the people dying was and said the f word. Shit we all can't have their perfect aristo-stick-up-my-ass English dialect. He asked me not to use profanity; snap!

That was a mistake for him to try, disarming me by asking me to step into line; dumb fucker.

"You have to be kidding me." I said, I am seething at this point keeping my self from really letting go. "You've got to be fricken kidding me people are fucking dying and you’re worried about my language. They just talked about babies dying on TV only because they didn’t get sustenance" Welling tears pissed off seething

Said something about that this was bullshit...

I ranted about the funds cut...

I said that we the people will be bringing accountability.

He raised his voice a bit in anger, stupid move....

I am now yelling at him...

“Oh accountability is coming; we the people are going to bring it.”

Clicking a button is not as satisfying as slamming the phone down.

My wife poked her head around the corner, “What the hell happened with that?”

This was Friday.

32. Fuck politics now.Be LEADERS, do what's right. Get your hands dirty,
even--then speak out from experience.

There is so very much wisdom on this board, but you continually choose to ignore it. You also continue to lose.

The Heritage Foundation interns are here, I'm pretty certain of that, and they use us. Please, for once--you do it, too.

I'm a 3rd gen yella-dawg raising a 4th, but my allegiance is at stake here.

Get your hands dirty, I dare you.
