Inheritance tax cuts

The Republicans better not even THINK of trying to push through further cuts on the inheritance tax after Katrina.

Instead... a Democrat needs to step up to the plate with this proposal: Place a one-year moratorium on the federal gasoline tax and roll back the current inheritance tax cuts on amounts over $2 million to pay for it. Maybe the numbers need to be adjusted here to make it revenue neutral. Get this on the news, trumpeted loud and far, and make sure it's a known as a DEMOCRATIC proposal.

This will be a smash hit with 98% of voters. If the Republicans don't go for it they will have a very very big egg on their face.

We need to start leading with ideas of our own. Even if they don't go anywhere, we need to have them out there so that people know what we're all about.

There are some compassionate ones. Kucinich for instance. Clark could bring this up, or Gore, or Dean.

I know none of them is as pure white as the driven snow, but they're not dark and oily like Bush and his posse. (No racial meanings intended or implied here.)

Unless you think the Greens stand a chance, I'm not sure what choice we have.

In addition to your suggestion may I add Congress should develope a
"Windfall Profits Tax" like we once had.The energy industry is "flush"
with excess cash {our cash} through higher prices so these higher profits should be taxed...just my opinion.........:hi: :hi: :hi: :dem:

While this catastrophe was unfolding? That should definitely be added to things we list when we discuss how Republicans don't care about what happens to poor people.

8. the super-rich are already well compensated...

for their efforts & they will tell you so, they are proud of it. perhaps a result of investment-class dividends & usury profits; they lack the kinds of experience required to understand the importance of infrastructure. it is well past time to invest in genuine forms of infrastructure. the beautification of the ronald reagan highway, as a mere for instance, is not the kind of investment that is warranted any longer. neither is siphoning monies from the people's assets or social services acceptable for what is clearly their benefits alone imo.
