I read on another thread that rural folks in Tulsa (?) had to be assured that they would not be getting any displaced New Orleanians.
I was trying to get into their heads to figure out what drove them to go that far. I realized that they are only trying to maintain their ‘wall’.
I also want to maintain my wall. We have a wall in common.
I want the country to go in the direction it was going as we continued to improve on our Constitution and Bill of Rights by giving everyone the right to vote, by maintaining a revolving social security system, by keeping hospitals that would and could admit all sick people at a reasonable fee, by maintaining trial by juries, by allowing freedom of religion and speech and separation of church and state, by realizing that people sometimes have financial collapses just as corporations do.
I want my wall to protect me from those who are trying to rewrite and destroy my Constitution and Bill of Right and destroy our congress and judges. I want my wall to surround those who are quite a bit tolerant and who mind their own business as long as people are living and trying to live by the law.
So we each have a wall. They have preferences and so do I. Our preferences are not in sync on essential principles. Do I need to be tolerant of them or should I wish for a formal division of our country marked by a real wall pushing against each other to keep it up? Their bigotry of little people and my defense of little people? I’m leaning towards a rock solid wall. I’m growing tired of the division and think I may be more happy living with people who think like I do. I think they deserve George Bush, Sr., George Bush, Jr, Jeb Bush and all the other Bushes to come with Robertson on the left and Cheney representing all corrupt corporations on the right and Rumsfeld and Wolfkowitz flanking their sides and with Bolton, Negroponte, Falwell, Limbaugh. and Mr. Mellon-Scaife (representing funders) standing beside them.
I’ve had it. It’s time to divorce. I think they would be happier. Yes, we do have things in common. We need our own walls.

BLACK PEOPLE SHOULD NOT BE ETHNICALLY CLEANSED OUT OF NEW ORLEANS
