Oh My God! Bush Just Came On TV and Lied About Iraq WMDs!
Again!!! The Washington Post reported this morning that David Kay couldn't find diddly and said that whatever WMD "program" they had was "very rudimentary".

The soundbite from Bush is that the "WMD program spanned more than two decades".

People how much more of this shit are we gonna take?!

9. Okay, that TOLL FREE CAPITOL HILL SWITCHBOARD NUMBER
is 1 (800) 839 - 5276 or 1 (800) 648 - 3516

Guys - let's not just complain to each other here on this board (much as I enjoy commiserating). Let's take it to the reps. They MUST BE FORCED TO SEE that there's tremendous objection to this out there. Yes, the rethugs are in denial and back-peddling like crazy and blathering all over the place with their increasingly ridiculous spin. But if that's the dominant voice out there, there's a reason. It's because WE ARE NOT IN THEIR FACES BADLY ENOUGH!!!!

Guys! REALLY! Please make that call! Call YOUR OWN PEOPLE. AND, CALL AT LEAST ONE rethug. AT LEAST one.

4. The Madness of Captain Queeg: "Ah, but the strawberries! "
Edited on Fri Oct-03-03 08:49 AM by Snellius
The Madness of Captain Queeg
written by Stanley Roberts, Michael Blankfort, from the novel by Herman Wouk

(Captain Queeg removes the steel balls from his pocket and he spins them in his palm insistently as he speaks.)

Queeg: No, I, I don't see any need of that. Now that I recall, he might have said something about messboys and then again he might not -- I questioned so many men and Harding was not the most reliable officer.

Lt. Greenwald (Jose Ferrer): I'm afraid the defense has no other recourse than to produce Lt. Harding.

Queeg: Now there's no need for that I know exactly what hell tell you. Lies! He was no different than any officer in the wardroom -- they were all disloyal, I tried to run the ship properly by the book but they fought me at every turn. If the crew wanted to walk around with their shirttails hanging out that's all right let them take the tow line. Defective equipment no more no less, but they encouraged the crew to go around scoffing at me and spreading wild rumors about steaming and circles. And then old yellow stain. I was to blame for Lt. Merrick's incompetence and poor seamanship. Lt. Merrick was the perfect officer but not Captain Queeg.
Ah, but the strawberries! That's where I had them. They laughed at me and made jokes, but I proved beyond the shadow of a doubt, and with geometric logic, that a duplicate key to the wardroom icebox did exist! And I'd have produced that key if they hadn't pulled Caine out of action! I-I-I know now they were only trying to protect some fellow officer and!......(realizes he has been ranting, babbling)
Naturally, I can only cover these things from memory if I've left anything out, why, just ask me specific questions and I'll be glad to answer them...one-by-one...

8. Yeah they are doing a push-pull thing
They stick to the old lines (Straw saying Kay report justified war) and in the same article someone says the opposite. It is getting confusing and I think that is the point. They provide quotes for their media (and the water down version) and for the base's ears and then they say something closer to the truth so they can't actually get caught.

10. Here's Bu**sh**'s transcript:
THE PRESIDENT:
The report states that Saddam Hussein's regime had a clandestine network of biological laboratories, a live strain of deadly agent botulinum, sophisticated concealment efforts, and advanced design work on prohibited longer range missiles. The report summarized the regime's efforts in this way, and I quote from the report:

"Iraq's WMD programs spanned more than two decades, involved thousands of people, billions of dollars, and was elaborately shielded by security and deception operations that continued even beyond the end of Operation Iraqi Freedom."

That is what the report said. Specifically, Dr. Kaye's team discovered what the report calls, and I quote, "dozens of WMD-related program activities and significant amounts of equipment that Iraq concealed from the United Nations during the inspections that began in late 2002."

In addition to these extensive concealment efforts, Dr. Kaye found systematic destruction of evidence of these illegal activities. This interim progress report is not final. Extensive work remains to be done on his biological, chemical and nuclear weapons programs. But these findings already make clear that Saddam Hussein actively deceived the international community, that Saddam Hussein was in clear violation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1441, and that Saddam Hussein was a danger to the world.
...
MR. KERICK:
And I read some of the articles about this, about Dr. Kaye's report today, in my opinion, there was one weapon of mass destruction in Iraq, and it was Saddam Hussein.
...
THE PRESIDENT:
His interim report said that Iraq's weapons of mass destruction program spanned more than two decades. That's what he said. See, he's over there under difficult circumstances and reports back. He says that the WMD program involved thousands of people, billions of dollars and was elaborately shielded by security and deception operations that continued even beyond the end of Operation Iraqi Freedom. In other words, he's saying Saddam Hussein was a threat, a serious danger.
