O'Connor is leaving and now Rehnquist...actually, with Rehnquist dead the Supreme Court has gone from far right to right. I can't really say I shed a tear for someone who used his position to fight to execute retarded people, amongst other travesties.
If Roberts gets through, fine. We have a conservative to replace the conservative Rehnquist slot (putting aside the "chief justice" title). But there's no way I will take the replacement of a conservative and a swing vote with two conservatives. And the only way to do this is to tell the Democratic Senators to filibuster. If one gets through, fine, but no way both. And the way to do this is calling them and telling them this.
I knew Senator Schumer was going to win in the last election, so I voted for David McReynolds, who ran as a Green or Socialist or something like that. I don't know what I would have done if it was a close election. But if the Democratic senators wimp out, forget about it, I am going Green. I am sick of all this DLC nonsense. They better show some backbone. If they don't take seriously that I and others might bolt, they won't care. If the Republicans want to get rid of the filibuster for judges, let them get rid of the damned filibuster for judges. When we get back into power we'll nominate whoever we want as judges. I can wait. Maybe we'll get some more William O. Douglass's on the Supreme Court.
No way will we accept two conservative supreme court justices! We start organizing now! I will not accept "compromise" and other nonsense.
We are supported by the majority of working Americans. But nowadays, when people immigrate, they're not allowed to vote. 1 out of 5 adults in California can't vote, and the number is high in other states as well. I'm not the biggest fan of open borders but when people come here and work, they should be able to vote. Texas is not a conservative state - Texas voters are conservative. If every worker in Texas would vote, who knows what their representatives would look like?
