about the two ladies Bush posed with ...please read
didn't want to post this in the other thread because it would just get lost.

I have this incident recorded on the DVR. When Bush walks up to the girls, the shorter one immediately asks him "hows my family" Bush responds that they are fine...Taller one and Bush chit chat about someone by name. Clearly, the audio was not shown on FOX or MSNBC or C-Span or anywhere else I have watched this. I later watched this clip on CNN and this part was edited and you could no longer hear the audio.

1. So you're saying that they know him?
I called them his cufflinks because he put each arm around them and wore them like cufflinks.

7. It certainly is interesting info!
And a transcript would be MOST helpful.

I can do transcripts like this -- it was a task I was good at during my 33 year career as an executive secretary. But there are plenty of others who can do this easily as well, and possibly sooner and with less hassle than sending the video (with complete audio) to me.

But if you need me, just holler!

THIS NEEDS TO GET OUT for sure....

4. So he has met these people before...
They are having a conversation about someone that is commonly known...

Someone else pointed out these women's shoes - they are BRIGHT WHITE sneakers. They look brand new. Didn't they mention they were looking for clothing for their kids? Yet they have brand new shoes... you walk through flood areas and your shoes are bright white?

11. I have spoke to soon
the dvr recorded cnn. I must have been watching msnbc then when I heard them saying this. I even rewinded it and played it... I know I fucking recorded it because I couldn't believe it. I have over 60 hours of news recorded from the past 3 days. I might have to go through alot of it and see if I can find it. Maybe it didn't record. Anyway, I'm gonna check msnbc's website for a transcript and see if maybe they have it in there. Sorry you guys, I'm not making this up. I know I heard this, i'll have to find it. Surely someone else out there recorded it too if I can't find it on my DVR.

14. Let's assume for the moment...
... that you weren't imagining this. There's enough info on the other thread to suggest that they aren't just survivors off the street.

Now, why would the younger one say, "how's my family?" How would Bush know that unless they knew him previously, or if he had been briefed on the two girls' family?

Now, how about a different twist on family. There's some suggestion that one or both of the girls were foreign students going to school in the US, at Santa Fe Community College in Gainesville, FL and at another community college in Mississippi. So, what if one or both were exchange students in high school and had stayed for a year with a family known to the Bushes? Isn't it fairly common for exchange students to think of their host family as family?

Cheers.

certainly you don't mean that.

my grandparents have lived in Canada for 50 years, but they still have very strong Dutch accents. does that make them uncanadian?

the larger point still remains - sounds like these women had not been through much hardship. but dammit - let's stop calling them unamerican.

On another note...about the man with the backpack, I believe it was the mayor who said to Bush "mr. president, this gentleman has lived here for two months" this should come in on most broadcasts. It is right around the time where it looks like Bush was gonna give this guy a high five, like he had done a great job or something. I was floored about that but nobody else seems to have noticed.

And I'm probably way off as usual. Bush told a bold faced lie to the girl who asked about her family. He has no earthly idea of how her family is doing. That is why the media had to blank that part of the audio out.

23. about their country of origin
Based on what I've read on DU this morning and a bit of geneological research, the Bessier sisters appear to hail from the West Indies (Belgian/Flemish name) and have some connection to NZ or Australia (the name Bronwynne is Australian).

Can someone give me a link to an audio so I can hear their accents?

24. Be sure to check the spelling...
... it's Bassier, not Bessier--that's been verified from white pages searches.

As for Bronwynne being Australian or New Zealander, it's also common in South Africa, and a variety of other places--it's one of those neologistic names that's supposed to sound as if it's derived from Welsh Gaelic, I think.

Bassier, too, is very common in S. Africa--probably deriving from French Algeria or Morocco, so it's more likely French than Flemish (in fact, there's a Bassier City, LA).

But, I agree about the audio--I'd like to hear it, too. That would help.

Edited on Sun Sep-04-05 10:21 AM by HamdenRice
Another poster linked them to Durban, a city on the east coast of SA. If so, they are "Coloured" people from Durban and would have an accent that is pretty regional and hard for Americans to identify.

BTW I lived in SA for years, and if anyone can send me a file of the audio, I could verify whether the accent is South African.

39. Try the Yahoo link again...
... it takes some time to come up, and then in a pop-up window (so, if you've got all pop-ups turned off in your browser, the link won't work).

Now, if it's any help, I listened to it a couple of times--a bit difficult to pick out a coherent sentence because her answers are interrupted by chokes and sniffles, but I did catch a word or two. One that suggested urban South Africa--clothes came out "clows," rather flat in pronunciation.

foreign students. I did a search a couple of days ago, and there was some mention of So Africa. The young women's last name is Bassier.

Here goes.

http://eyesonkatrina.blogspot.com/2005_09_01_eyesonkatrina_archive.html

Three South African families are OK

Tom Wilemon found three native South African families who wanted folks back there to know that they were safe in Biloxi. The families of Malcomb Smith, Shawn Abraham and Lynne Bassier wanted him to pass that along.

35. Maybe they have been "disappeared" already
With the fear that immigrants and foreign nationals have after seeing so many rounded up and still in prisons after 911 I would guess that foreign nationals would be "controllable" (Another case of "using" foreign nationals and the fact that Diebold hired foreign nationals as "observers" at the polls (poll workers were told they worked for Diebold) in 2000 told them not to tell immigration that they were here to work and then sent them home

So for the phony photo op they were told to come there and the fate of a lost family member would be given to them (by Bush?). Now it appears they have disappeared off the face of the earth and nobody has come forward saying they "know them" (Now they will of course, another orchestrated addenda to the spin).
