5. No, he was directing them to load up critically ill people into a plane

he chartered to take them to hospitals in Tennessee. He spent a couple days being jerked around by FEMA before he got clearance to land the flight.

6. He's got to be pissed because of all the screw-ups

and he knows that James Lee Witt, FEMA director when he was VP, actually had a disaster relief plan in place for New Orleans and would have had federal emergency personnel at the scene within hours, if not sooner.

The displaced hurricane victims came to Tennessee on a hastily arranged flight, accompanied by doctors and carrying whatever they had in boxes, bags or, in one case, an old suitcase tied up with rope.

Former Vice President Al Gore arranged the flight and was on board, but he declined to take credit for the airlift, fearing it would be "politicized."
