50 Amazing photos from the Italian Press
Edited on Sun Sep-04-05 11:07 AM by FightingIrish
La Repubblica always has more realistic images of our disaters than we do, Iraq included. Long Download

Since it's a montage, I can't seem to post a direct link. Open the link below and click on "DRAMMA IN 50 FOTO" It starts with a disclaimer about graphic images.

5. Nominating, too. You know, I've seen the picture of the woman on the
bridge so many times, but was too shocked by the body in the water to notice what she was doing. Somehow, realizing now that she was pouring bottled water into a styrofoam to-go box to give to her dog really gets to me.

6. The one that made me cry -
The one with the black woman holding the elderly white woman's head - maybe hospital patient - obviously shouting that she needed help right now!

My dad died just last year and he looked a lot like that older woman - sick, frail, tired, confused. I just can't stand it.

17. The one that makes me cry is the Bush photo op
with his sleeves rolled up. I noticed in his interviews the other day - he was the ONLY ONE with his sleeves rolled.

:puke:

18. That one just made me barf.
My partner - who is not the politically savvy type - just took one look at that video and snorted. "Does he realize how transparent he is with all this?" he says.

an "I Heart Jesus" keychain around her neck; a man missing a leg being carried by two citizens over the flood waters (perhaps lost the leg as a US soldier).

Not safe even if you cover yourself with the symbols that are worshipped by the masses.

My God, my God, why have you forsaken us?

Babies, the elderly. If a society is judged by how it cares for it's most vulnerable citizens - well...

21. O MY GOD-----I SAW --WHITE PEOPLE !!!!!!
i saw "nice middle class" black people with better houses than mine!!!!!
i saw young white people, old white people...and i thought the only people were nappy haired over weight black people...well slap me silly!!! but according to the american press that`s all there is left in that place!

no wonder the world hates this government-it wasn`t that long ago they had to rebuild their crown jewels of their countries and now they watch in stunned silence as they watch our crown jewel spiral into anarchy.

god i wished we lived in a civilized society but i guess that`s up to make sure we do and the children of this country no matter what class or race...

23. The most telling image is the soldier with his finger on the trigger, most
likely having been given orders to shoot to kill, yet there is but one solitary other person in the photo.

24. The heartbreaker for me was
the woman barely able to take a drink of water. She looked so dehydrated and mentally "out of it".

BTW, I learned a new Italian word today. "Chiudi" means close. Don't click on it until you're done!
