Can anyone suggest a good relief organization to donate to?
I was going to give to the Red Cross, but now I don't know if that would be the best choice.

Ideally, I'd like to give to a non-religious group that really gets help to the most desperate people and has a very low overhead.

Thanks for any suggestions.

2. The Tom Joyner/Black America Web relief fund
The Tom Joyner Morning Show and Black America Web have set up a relief fund, to which I encourage everyone who can to donate.

What Tom has decided to do is help the helpers. He said on his radio show the other day, that people who have taken in the displaced victims of hurricane Katrina, will have those people staying with them for an indefinite amount of time.

And so he wants to provide money to the helpers, so that they will have enough food, etc to continue to shelter those who have been displaced.

He has called this "The African-American's tsunami" and said we must respond just like we did in December.
