I was provoked enough to say (finally) that if Bush* would like to "hurt" I'd be happy to slap the damn smirk off his face.

He's calling the Secret Service---nothing more dangerous in America today than a middle-aged woman with an open fist who is over 3000 miles away I guess. My husband said that he guessed that the SS has so many similar calls at the moment that they are likely concentrating on real threats from people a bit closer. Still, if a "legal fund" appeal is issued from this username soon, its my husband and I'm in Gitmo or something...

Every year no less than 15 insanely stupid students at the university I work for email death threats to the WH (doesn't matter who is in charge - it happend when Clinton was in office, too). The Secret Service shows up, finds the student in question, asks them if they really want to kill the president, and then they leave.

The only time anyone was ever arrested was a student who not only answered "Yes" to the above question but also had three fully automatic rifles in his dorm room and seemed quite intent on a killing spree. Oddly enough, he wasn't charged with a threat against the President, but for violating firearms laws within Washington DC. That was about 9 years ago.

My neighbor was so outraged by my "slap" comment he told his usually ideological reliable neighbor on the other side of him.

That second guy (we called him Mr. W04) told him a bit more dramatically what *he'd* like to do today. Seems that Mr. W04 (on every damn vehicle in that driveway) was *actually* outside scraping them off when our outraged neighbor came to report (get this) my "treason."

Its cold-comfort-day for a few of the King's supporters it seems. He told Mr. W04 that he was "added to the list the Secret Service is going to hear about" We just invited Mr. W04 to come by for a beer when he finishes cleaning those cars---he *might* be angrier than any of us.
