Why I don't think Bush will get away with it.
Because EVERYONE IS PISSED!

Because this is his fault, because they can not censor the celebrities.

Celebrities like Kanye West and Celine Dion are being honest. Do you honestly think for a moment that Diddy is going to keep quiet while thousands of black people are killed by this monster.

Bush is not going to get away with this, the backlash has just begun.

1. Yep.
That's how I know their control isn't how some people portray it - we still are a pluralistic society, even if it's not entirely perfect.

2. yes indeed
I live and work in north Arkansas, in a repuke district. My boss is so mad at Bush he was literally shaking with rage on Friday, and said impeachment was too good for him. And he was talking about the way Bush handled the hurricane situation-he started crying when he talked about the poor people who were stranded, and ordered me to immdiately cut a check for the Red Cross.

3. I totally agree!
We have to talk about it and talk about it and talk about it. We have to be in people's faces and possibly lose friends over it. We have no choice.

10. 44% of Americans blaming Bush already is not depressing
I mean 44% of Americans blaming their leader for the slow response that needlessly killed thousands more Americans is really quite amazing. Soon it will be more than that. Once you believe that your leader is responsible for the deaths of thousands of Americans, you don't forgive and forget easily.

5. Even the FAUX news types are outraged!
Shephard SMith is describing how awful things are at the convention center and Sean Hannity is trying to control the damage...
"Let's bring in some perspective here.." says hannity. 'supplies are starting to arrive..'
Smith interrupts him: "You don't need perspective! This is reality!"

6. I am hopeful that you are right.
The headline to an article discussing a poll in another thread said pretty much that Bush is getting off the hook. But the actual poll numbers tell a different story.

first of all, polls are always a couple days old and second of all. 44% of Americans already blame Bush. Now that is an AMAZINGLY high percentage in my opinion this soon after the tragedy who are saying they blame their leader for a botched relief effort that may have killed thousands more people than if it would have been a quicker response. When you blame your president for neglecting his duty and leading to the deaths of thousands of Americans, you don't forgive and forget easily.

7. more and more this decade reminds me of the 60s
ok, first there is the war. Now we have protests and I think the current reaction to the hurricane is going to be the new civil rights protests.

I hope Georgie enjoyed the 60s because it looks like they're back again!!

18. I keep telling my kids that!
I have a 21, a 19 and a 14 year old. They are all so disheartened. I keep telling them that they can change the world and I believe it. It is my 14 year old that is the most intolerant of stupidity. These kids are more sophisticated than we were. We raised these kids to be tolerant and compassionate. We all did, even my right-wing nut neighbors for the most part. These kids have gay friends and don't hate them, etc. They question us, their parents, way more than we questioned our parents and will have no problem questioning authority. It won't be seen as radical as it was in the sixties. Also, my kids aren't using drugs the way we did at their age (who me). Their minds are very clear. I have hope.

Oh, momma, don't be so sure. Things have a way of surprising you. I'd wager that even if your oldest doesn't actively smoke pot, he or she has tried it. But, then again, marijuana is not a drug. It's not a drug unless you'll suck feet for it. Did you ever suck some feet for some marijuana? I didn't think so!

12. Emotions are on our side
Landrieu says she'll punch the President and then breaks down sobbing at the end of the ABC interview.

Grealdo and Shep Smith rip Bush a new one on Fox, nearly in tears.

MSNBC is playing Broussards breakdown non-stop and giving him much sympathy and support.

Countless other heartfelt pleas for help from the Mayor of New Orleans to individual citizens get constant airplay.

Meanwhile, Chertoff, Runsfeld, Brown show ZERO emotion and parrot talking points. They HAVE no emotions and it's very clear.

The emperor has no clothes... he's a heartless prick and now everyone can see that.

24. I really hope so, but I'm reserving my optimism for the moment
And remember, when you corner an animal it lashes out even more violently and viciously.

If the Bush junta is becoming cornered, look out, people. Things are going to get very ugly.

25. even those nutty white supremacists are pissed.
I logged onto their website (stormfront.org) and was reading their posts. They're blaming Bush for his miserable failures (even though they dont care that the blacks died, of course). Oh, and yes, they're blaming the jews too, but hey, its a start! lol
