A tinfoil-hat look at the New Orleans tragedy
There are many reports out there of DHS and/or FEMA blocking aid to the people of New Orleans, way too many to be explained by bureaucratic bumbling, and even the scenario of intense turf battles is beginning to look doubtful.

What if:

The Bushies are looking at their latest poll numbers and having a lot of serious heartburn about the 2006 midterm elections. It's likely that if they want to stay in power, they're going to have to steal the election, and probably steal it in the teeth of pretty dismal pre-election polls. They have to stay in power, because they're in so deep that out of office will mean into jail. Since urban voters are more likely to vote Democratic, the cities are likely to be ground zero of election fraud.

Now, along comes Katrina, and it's pretty obvious to anyone over ten that New Orleans is at serious risk. So, when Katrina hits, all aid efforts, including early efforts to close the levee breach, are blocked, and the city turns into absolute Hell.

Why do this? To send a message to officials in other major cities: "Don't f*** with us when we steal the 2006 election, or this will be you."

Yes, I know it's insane, but where is sanity?
