Law enforcement have absolutely lost their minds. Some guy wearing khaki fatigues and black vests which say Police on them have their faces covered in black ski masks and are touting M4-A1s with front hand grips -- like they're some kind of Delta Force operators waiting to hit the tire house. They're guarding the four corners around the Bell South building for crying out loud. And what, they need secret identities? Come on. You can just tell some of these guys have never gotten out before. Now's their big chance to play Army.

1. On the scanner earlier today there was a report

of 20 people being help hostage by the NOPD at a hotel on Canal St(AmeriSuites or something)

My guess is they found a secure line to communicate about that b/c I never heard about it again.

Fortunately, another DUer heard it on the scanner too so I know I'm not crazy.

8. Golly....this sure makes the officials of New Orleans look bad

Now, who could have possibly shown up on the scene in New Orleans recently who would want to make city officials of New Orleans look bad, incompetent, violent, out-of-control? I don't know any more than the next person, just speculating, but it does seem odd that the New Orleans police appear to have had more than their share of incidents today.

9. Saw a report on Friday that creeped me out

I think this was on CNN - where the reporter hunkered down wit hthe (overwhelmingly white) NO police force when they fortified themselves in their precinct house during the night. These people are fucking dangerous. It was the whole creepy survivalist "us vs. them" mentality.
