...unfolding, appears to be life imitating art. The famous Austrian born German film maker, Fritz Lang, directed a series of films between 1922 and 1933, with an arch villain criminal master mind character named Dr. Mabuse (pronounced Ma booza). Two were silent films titled Dr. Mabuse, The Gambler and Inferno. The third film was Lang's 2nd sound film released in 1933, but banned by the Nazis after it's premier screening titled The Last Testament of Dr. Mabuse. Another Lang film released as a silent film in 1929 was Spies, where the arch villain character was named Hauge (pronounced Ha gay). All of these films through the years have been credited with foretelling the rise of the Nazis in Germany and of Hitler's pathological. But these timeless classics seem to also apply to what is happening right now in the U.S. under George Bush and the neo-conservative/PNAC take-over of our country.
Take a look at these films all of which have been restored to nearly their original director's productions when first released.See if you can see prophetic visions by the director which apply to our current times. The silent films are all subtitled in English and the sound film, although in German, have English subtitles as well. Here is a link to one review of the last Testament of Dr Mabuse:
