46% Approve of Bush's Handling of the Crisis!!!
Was reading the NYT story on the front page of DU and that piece of info from an ABC poll just jumped out at me. By jesushchrist, it's the same old, same old. This country is shit...sorry, but there is no other fitting word. It's just utter shit. If we ever thought that even what amounts to negligent homicide would finally wake these people up, we are wrong. Bigotry is the foundation of our Christianity in this country. We are violent. We are hateful. Any nation that thinks we want to bring their poor, abused people "democracy" is delusional. The people really don't care about New Orleans except for how it loused up their gas prices. They can look at this unfolding and click the channels to see if any "reality tv" is on. New Orleans doesn't exist because it's just a bunch of poor blacks dying..who cares. These same ugly excuses for human beings will, guaranteed, in '06 and '08 go out and elect just as many, if not more, Republicans because they love and admire the greedy, outright hatred of those mongrels. And not a one of the losers in this country can figure out that their lives mean no more to the wealthy core of the Republican Party than do the floating dead in New Orleans. There is NOTHING Bush can/cannot do that will ever make these fools see him for the sick, loser that he is.

1. I guess they weren't able to poll anyone in the disaster area?
Especially since most of them still don't have phones or electric.

18. It's a lie, did you ever think of that?
That maybe since the media lies about everything, they could be exaggerating about this too?

You're much better off just talking to people, you'll find out a lot more if you talk to the ocassional man on the street, than you will from the CORPORATE news.

2. I don't believe it-- I CAN'T believe it
I thought his base was slipping-- and that this was one
more nail in the coffin (a coffin, by the way, so riddled
with nails you can barely see the wood).

WTF??

3. That poll is as real as the outcome of the '00 & '04 election.
Google creative response concepts .... they plant stories like this one.

pure spin.

6. That is 46% of Americans who are total nitwits....
:wtf: How is anyone with even a slight bit of compassion in their hearts able to approve of what Bush and his administration have done regarding the management of relief from the Hurricane disaster in New Orleans and the gulf coast? Must have blinders on.

8. The numbers are wrong - the public is PO'd
Rasmussen Reports - a right leaning polling group - has a new poll today that says only 28% of people think the federal government has done a good or excellent job.

http://www.rasmussenreports.com/2005/Katrina.htm

"September 4, 2005--Just 28% of Americans give say that the federal government has done a good or an excellent job responding to Hurricane Katrina. Another 25% say the government has done a fair job while 45% say poor.

Interest in the story is extraordinarily high. Eighty-eight percent (88%) of Americans say they are closely following news stories about the tragedy, including 59% who are following it "very closely."

Forty-seven percent (47%) have made a financial contribution to help the victims of the disaster. Seventy-eight percent (78%) have said a prayer for them.

<snip>

Even among Republicans, there are significant doubts about the federal response to Katrina. Just 47% of those in President Bush's party say the federal response has been good or excellent. Fifty-one percent say fair or poor."

12. DemFromMem--I think "federal gov" are the key words there
In the NYT article on front page of DU they asked people about the great, wonderful leader BUSH. In the poll you posted they asked if the "Federal Gov" had done enough, etc. In other words, once you personalize it and ask about the holy one, the dumb shitheads line up to praise him. I really am beginning to detest this country.........

13. That 78% prayer figure is what's WRONG with this country, as
long as people think their lives have any connection with one or more unseen beings shit like this is going to continue to happen.

9. Think for a moment.. That is horrible in the begining of a crisis such
as this. Those numbers are not good news for them. Not fatal but alarming. These are the times when "we should be ralling around the President" 46% at this stage, the start is horrible. They know it that is why even the media is reporting they are putting damage control in high gear at the White House.

11. Latest Rasmussan poll -- 2 days AFTER this poll -- has approval at 28%
Edited on Sun Sep-04-05 09:00 PM by scarletwoman
Or thereabouts. There's a newer thread about it somewhere, but finding anything in GD right now is rather tricky, to say the least.

The NYT is, as usual, covering for the chimperor -- remember, the NYT LIES constantly.

14. A lot of people haven't been paying attention. The networks haven't
been showing this crisis.

During 9/11, all the TV stations were just showing the WTC's, etc. Now, you can go home from work and watch whatever crappy show you want to watch - unless you watch the news channels and/or read the paper, you wouldn't know much.

It feels insane when you go somewhere and everyone is just going on with their business - clueless.

They is a portion of the country who has been watching and is furious, outraged and practically suffering PTSD just from watching TV and another group that hasn't heard much about it.

The numbers polled, the # repubs vs dems and independents, the questions.

I suspect the percentages will tell the tale.

If the Republicans were able to do simple accounting we wouldn't be in Iraq. "They need to learn the difference between unaccouted for and has." Hans Blixx.
Its' all ours! Don't you even look at it! Is not accounting. That is greed.

Take a Good look America. This is what happens when Daddy buys you a diploma and then buy you a job at "The Party of Lincoln." Sorry Abe. It's going to be a long walk. But we'll straighten this out for you. So You can Rest In Peace. You have served our country well.

17. 40...45...42
The 40s. That's where the polls are stuck. If * took out a knife and slit pickles throat right out there on teevee for all America to see, I have a feeling he'd still be in the 40s.

It's wierd. And it may be fixed, I don't know.

Just to be safe, the grassroots movement should concentrate on one thing for the next election... their base. Get them all out to vote. Get out the vote should be the most important thing we do as Democrats.

4 out of 10 Americans are mentally ill and only a massive voter registration drive can offset these wackos.

* can cut the heart out of their children and eat it on live teevee and these people will think that it was ordained.

Every working man and woman who can vote must vote or we're screwed. Now is the time to get people registered to vote. Waiting for the last minute will be a bad move.

Seriously... these polls make me nutz.

19. This was a one-day poll done on Friday
the day after Bush's visit. Everyone needs to remember this. Of all the days to do a one-day poll, that's the only one in the last four or five days that would show him not tanking.

20. In comparison to his other "disaster" approval ratings
that seems very low for Bush. Especially compared to the bumps in support he got during the infancy of his crazy leadership errors like 9/11 and Iraq.

That's as high as it's going to get. Those numbers are only going to go down as the death counts are released and if Democrats grow some balls and place the blame of the failed response where it belongs.

22. Some 30-40% will support * even if he's outed as the anti-Christ.
That's how polarized the U.S. has become.

That's also why it's so crucial that the Democratic Party reach out to the 10-20% of voters who are truly independent. We need to focus on the handful of issues that divide our great nation and find common ground with the independents.

Our most valuable trait is that we Dems really care about the working masses and the Repugs are strictly big business.

70% against a Shrub policy/situation 30% for!

This poll is BULLSHIT! I refuse to believe that the American People are evil. I just plain don't fricking believe it!

25. My neighbor,
who is a solid Dem, has been taken in by the lies. ("It's not *'s fault.")

I tried explaining things to her, but like many people, she lacks a good, working understanding of the world around her -- much less any understanding of the responsibilities of leadership, ultimate accountability, etc, as applies to this situation (or almost any situation, beyond some of the most trivial).

The neocons are quite good at preying on the ignorant. And they have done their best to keep people from coming to good, working understandings of the world around them, etc.

We are an ignorant people, and the fixation on their beliefs of the arrogant and the insane (generally unjustified, irrational, etc, beliefs) impresses many people as being strength.

But we are not alone in this, many Japanese (as I have read) are apparently impressed by Koizumi's fixation on looting the Postal Service.

It's a world-wide cabal -- and the neo-dark-ages await.

And, personally, I never trust any of these polling numbers.
