CBS News just broke my heart. They had a 3-4 yr old boy say
"My mother's dead. Somebody pushed her in the water!". You could tell he didn't really understand what that meant. They are going for the heart chord and I am crying again.

4. Ultimately, if they let this spin out of control long enough, most people
will choose "Security", which is the RW theme of military "defense" and is also one of the fundamental religious impulses (security about one's ultimate fate).

and this is what happened. The lesson to be learned, at least I hope, is that the Republicans cannot be trusted with the security of this country.

8. the few Republicans I've talked to said they voted for bushie
on the "security" issue.

I wonder if ANYONE feels secure now? Especially if you happen to be poor & brown or black or weak or disabled -- it appears as deaths will be very high in these groups.

Also I've noticed that apparently there were no plans to evacuate the rest homes or hospitals -- I've heard reports of deaths of all rest home residents.

You know bush really amazes me -- when I believe he has finally hit bottom -- the SOB finds a way to sink even lower.

WE knew a major hurricane was going to hit New Orleans -- and we knew that a whole lot of people weren't able to evacuate the city. We knew that the death toll would probably be very high. We= those of us reading and posting at DU.

Then the posts about how bushie's Monday was going -- how he had a sentence or two about the hurricane but went into his motor mouth spin about Iraq. Anyway most of us have his time line for last week more or less stuck in our minds for all the rest of our lives.

As people died from lack of water etc etc -- he got on with HIS life -- until his advisers suggested that he needed to show "compassion"

The US is not safer with him in the white house -- we are in mortal danger.

Put him in a bubble and keep him the hell away from us.
