People still in their homes weren't just being "stubborn"
I have not heard anyone in the media note that some people just couldn't get to a shelter, it was too far to walk for some-and some weren't even capable of walking-and I personally could not leave my pets behind to die. That's just me, it would kill me to have to do that so I'd rather be there with them comforting them until the end.

I am just so sick of this attitude I am seeing on the news and around me (in non-DU land) scoffing at the people who needed to be rescued from their homes. these judgementalists are just sick and wrong, at least now I now who the toxic personalities are to stay away from. This really does bring out the best and worst in people.

2. yep. I saw a guy on the freeway overpass that was rescued
from his roof and dropped off there. he said he'd rather be back on his roof. the freeway was still better than the superdome.

3. There have been news people though, who have pointed this out
They have talked about how many if not most of the people who were still there COULD NOT get out. It wasn't a matter of not wanting to. (Though in some cases, it was, and this was not said by the newsies, but by the people themselves).

The newsies point out that many of these folks didn't have cars, or didn't have enough money to get gas, as it was a few days before payday, or they did not have cars, or public transportation was not easily accessible to them, or they were too ill to leave. This info is out there, so I think the ones who are trumpeting the "stubborn" line are mostly freeptards who also think "they deserved what they got." I don't give those folks (freeptards) a lot of energy. They just aren't worth it.

4. Sleep deprivation has a dramatic effect on the brains ability

to function normally, and it's reasonable to assume they haven't been getting much, if any sleep. Add to that the fact that they have been starving, dehydrating, exposed to the weather and under extreme stress. Many may not be in the position to make rational decisions and everything possible should be done to get them to safety.

edit- I understand that it may take more time to rescue the unwilling, but I sure hope they are not leaving any kids in this situation as it is a clear case of child endangerment.

5. selfishness works for them
bushinc i mean, because they have a 'feel' for what plays in peoria, and as hypocritical selfish nonsense is such a mouthful, the busheviks figger they can be long gone before the label can be attached to them....that's important, as the bush gopig lives and dies by appearances (if these guys are so perverted in public, what horrors do they practice in private?) which the square jawed ninnies of let's pretend america just suck like lolipops
