Asta La Vista, Arnold?
Edited on Fri Oct-03-03 02:01 PM by einsteins stein
There's a principle of war, that says you don't shoot all your big guns off on day one of the first battle. If the opponent survives by some miracle, you've got nothing left to hit with.

I think that is what we are seeing in California, or at the very least, this is just the beginning of the attack on Arnold, not the best we can do--Nope!

You know that Davis and the Dems had this info on Ahnold some time ago. Why did they wait till now to drop it?

My guess is that what we're hearing now is just the meat tenderizer, softening Arnold up for whatever it is that the California Dems have in the bag, hidden until a day or two before the election. Bash him around for a few days, then deliver the political death blow.

Let Arnold say all this misogyny and abuse was in the past, say it, repeat it, and build on it. Then, hit him with the big gun, whatever that "big gun" is, but designed so as to refute every defense that the repukes are making regarding Arnolds behavior.

That's how a lawyer would build a case, IMO, just let the defendant hang himself in a web of his own deception.

Hmm...doesn't Gray Davis hold law degrees from Stanford and Columbia?

I'm very excited to see what will happen over the next few, short days.

edited to tighten up the message....

I don;t thknk you blow off all the fireworks at once - I agree with you. I think the big one is coming.

4. Can you clarify?
Do you mean Arnold is hiding something about himself, or Davis is holding something back about Arnold till the last moment?

Who is your "he said people advised him" refering to, and do you have a link?

thanks

stein

21. was in a tape of arnold
I believe it was in the denials of the nazi allegations. he said they told me to expect this - "whatever there is, they are going to find it, it's going to come out. I think the people of California are tired of trash politics"

But he'll be blamed for it.

am wondering if you posted to the wrong thread? What the hack does that have to do with this topic of tactical politics? :-)

Yer silly!

6. That makes no sense
There are three more days until the recall. This is the end. Holding anything back now would be stupid, the scandals have to hit the Sunday papers/shows for any real traction. The load has been blown (grope/Hitler).

8. A lawsuit by Gloria Allred on Monday?
She could represent one of the women and file charges for sexual abuse. Do it the day before so the notoriously short attention span syndrome does not kick in....

9. I hope your wrong, cause Arnold's poll #'s just went up again...
Edited on Fri Oct-03-03 02:26 PM by einsteins stein
fortunately, that poll was also taken before the bad news for Arnie hit, but you know the spin will be that Californians have heard the bad, and have forgiven Arnold.

I sure as hell hope his true numbers have tanked since then.

Regardless, I still stand on my theory.

The election is Tuesday. .

Look for the shit to hit on Saturday night, before the Repukes can put together a diversion to deflect the Sunday paper headlines.

11. Jeez, Selwyn, can California vote first?
Thanks goodness we don't decide things based on opinion polls...

Maybe you're right, but lets drop the charges of denial. Its snarky, on top of being premature.

16. Nothing is as healthy as hope!
And Davis has some SOB's on his side, and has gone neg before, and the best time to kill Arnie's candidacy is this weekend.

If nothing happens by Monday, and no new polls show Arnie's drop...

...then you'll have to move over.

27. Sorry, Selwynn
But the opinion of someone who feels sorry for Rush Limbaugh means nothing to me.

There are some people you just naturally feel compassion for, and others whom instinct tells you don't deserve one bit of it.

13. I have thought the same thing
because these two stories that just surfaced are actually old news - the groping stories are well known and the Nazi stuff has already been bandied about before.

I have thought that back there - given his history - there may actually have been a real assault charge somewhere along the line, ala John Fund-type assault on a woman.

Arnold use of steroids is no secret - with the amount of steroids he did, which we know can cause extreme violent behavior, I see this as a possible scenario.

14. Yeah, the magic EightBall says Bad News For Arnie
Saturday night, and again on Monday.

Something that just confirms earlier allegations.

I mean, what can be worse than being a suspected Hitler devotee? Well, how about being a proven Hitler devotee?

Seriously now, what do you think clobbered Clinton? Was it having sex with Lewinski, or was it wagging his finger and saying his "That Woman" line, only toget blue dressed later?

I think it was the proven lie, not the act itself. I hope to see the same thing happen to Arnie.

Hmm...Didn't Clinton recently visit Davis for a little think tanking?

19. i think it's a bad strategy
... for two reasons. first, it doesn't give adequate time for awareness of the scandal to spread. not everyone is paying that close attention to the news.

second, as at least one news article pointed out, a lot of people have already voted. by absentee ballot. i did, for one. and probably a million other people did too. too late for any scandals to affect those votes.

i suspect that if a Davis partisan were trying to control the stories for maximum impact, the optimal timing might have been a week earlier.

22. Perhaps you're right
but I just dont get that sense of doom, though admittedly, I think that I should!

Maybe what I'm anticipating is that the duration of Arnold's Governorship will be short lived, either because he wilol be recalled, or because he will never get re-elected.

Hmmm...I wonder if Arnold didn't run last election because the deal was already cut - Davis would be recalled, Arnold could get in with out a majority of the vote.

Just how long has this thing been in the planning?

He admired Hitler? Ho hum... nothing interesting about that. No relevance whatsoever. Never mind that his father was a hardcore Nazi officer. Hey, we all have a skeleton in our closet, right? Just a minor issue. Nothing to see here, folks. etc. etc. etc...

Idiots.

29. I ask because
I was curious if any stories had ever floated around Ca. to that effect....spousal abuse. I would have to assume that THAT would have come out a long time ago though. It's a very important issue and not something that the Democrats would leave buried. I've been waiting for a Californian to bring that subject up but, they never have so, I thought I would ask if anyone else had seen her looking battered. She was doing a Dateline show a few years ago and she LOOKED like she had covered up a black eye with makeup. The people here, in the house, all agreed it LOOKED like she had a black eye. We must have been wrong. I thought maybe Californians had more info than we midwesterners.

28. if they have these videos, I can hear his nuts getting crushed
from Buzzflash.com

Let's go to the videotape.

Now that Arnold Schwarzenegger has apologized for his behavior toward women, perhaps he wouldn't mind if footage of his alleged groping of a British broadcaster against her will was released.

So far, Carlton Television in London is refusing to show a tape of a December 2000 show, "Celebrity," in which Schwarzenegger grabbed host Melanie Sykes at the waist. Sykes said that when she pushed the bodybuilder away and said, "Get your hands of me - I'm scared," he responded by grabbing her breasts.

"Apparently, there's a problem with a batch of tapes, and the Melanie Sykes thing is one," Carlton spokesman Murray Buesst told our Spencer Morgan.

Sean Walsh, chief spokesman for the California gubernatorial candidate, told us: "I don't even know that these alleged incidents took place."

Stay tuned.
