Is the fight between Blanco and Bush really a fight for our country?
Edited on Mon Sep-05-05 12:22 PM by cynatnite
It seems to me this is more than the aftermath of Katrina and more than repukes and dems. It's a fight for control of the US.

Am I reading too much into it?

edited for clarity

Bush thinks because he's president in name only that he can take control and get his way all the time. Someone is finally standing up for him. Republicans supposivley believe in state rights. This should show that Bush is no republican. He's just power hungry and will do anything to save his own ass.

3. imho, no
I think the fight for our country will have to be waged by the people: protests, demonstrations, riots, strikes, lawsuits, arrests of Bushco criminals, etc.

5. State's National Guard is overseas. Fed want to take control over..
what is left. And allow military to control the disaster zone. Nice precedent to set.

Strong state governments are a good balance to the feds now that the courts are slipping away.

6. No - it is just a fight over someone who is thinking and trying things
out to make her state better and has feelings about it and say..the environment, and someone who wants and expects everyone in his sight to buckle under and do and feel and think exactly as the wants because his "guys", who have no respect for a good portion of the population, have the world all figured out ....

SO HUMANITY CAN ALL STOP THINKING & FEELING NOW

11. If we had leadership to begin with, Bush wouldn't have underfunded
the Army Corps of Engineers 10 year levee project which would have been completed this year. Bush thought his base of millionaires needed a tax cut instead! While the whole world is watching, NOW is the time to point the finger!

14. mayors
I don't know anything about the mayors or governors of Mississipi or Louisiana, but I know something about Mayor Daley of Chicago, and I think if some natural disaster had threatened Chicago, you better believe he would have had the national guard standing by, and would have told the feds to go screw themselves if they tried to stall the rescue efforts.

Also the national guard are already under the federal control and out of state control because of war in Iraq. So even though many states wanted to send national guard, their hands were tied until federal government gave the permission.

16. Yes it is
Will Bush be allowed to bully everybody? Will you literally die if you don't let Bush control everything? How does the lack of help in Louisiana correlate to the lack of help in Iraq? There's some neocon agenda here, I haven't quite figured it out, but it's there.
