That's if you survive being sent into an illegitimate war without the proper equipment.
And if you're lucky enough to stay in this country you get to travel to disaster sites and recover week old corpses in the heat.
Just like the President's Guard experience.
It just burns me to see how these people have been abused by Bush.

I think a lot of Guardsmen would rather be in the Gulf of Mexico right now helping out than in the Persian Gulf. I sincerely hope that all Guards who have loved ones in the area have been given leave to go there and help out their families.

to go to LA and help out. Wisconsin sent 500 on Sunday. But Nagin was complaining he only had 250 guardsmen the first 3 days- its too bad more couldn't have gone down there sooner.
I know they have to do whatever needs to be done, but helping survivors is inherently rewarding and recovering bodies is inherently devastating. I wish nobody had to do it. Those that do will never forget it.
