TURN ON MSNBC
Edited on Mon Sep-05-05 06:39 PM by the dogfish
An entire story devoted to questioning Brown's capability and lack of experience... making him look REAL bad...

Quick interviews, etc. saying how people were "shocked" to hear he was taking over FEMA with his background being overseeing the judges at horse shows or something like that...

Holy crap...

12. OH MY! Trent is getting pissy?
Guess he has HIS talking new talking points -- the bait and switch blame the state and local Gov thing must not be working out?

I don't know about you guys... but if I were bush I wouldn't want to screw with Nagin--that guy is no fool and he's got guts.

Looks like bushit and his cronies have had to change gears.

3. the horse people are saying
they wondered why he was put in as head of FEMA.

Said that a WP poll didn't say it was Bush's fault.

Now two congressmen on.

Bennie Thompson saying the local officials want someone in charge.

Now a repuke being asked who should be in charge-and started to give the rw talking points. Talking about Trent Lott's house, for heaven's sake!
Levees broke, didn't get people in because of snipers! Same old same old.

Says we can have a secure dry NO

Thompson-DHS law makes it so they are supposed to be in charge-feds late in responsible-someone needs to be held accountable.

5. nominations
Must be used (at appropriate time) to bring to light the many horrible appointments and nominations Bush has made (Bolton, Negropointe, Chalabi, Poindexter, Rice, and a zillion corporate lobbyists placed in positions of regulating the industry they came from...esp coal, energy, oil, logging, mining, etc)

Framed correctly (I know that's asking a lot from the media and dem leaders), this could not only cast more doubt on his already-dysfunctional government, but will taint recent and upcoming nominations.

18. More bad nominations
Judge Brown, Torture memo Gonzales.

Add to that the big time officials that have made grievous, earthshattering mistakes and were rewarded for them: Tenet, Rumseld, Wolfowitz, Powell.

9. People were shocked to hear....
Edited on Mon Sep-05-05 06:54 PM by Postman
I haven't been watching the piece you're talking about but, when people state they are shocked to hear that Brown was appointed as FEMA Director, this is an indication that the "interview" was conducted some time ago. After all, Brown wasn't appointed FEMA Director last week.

So my question is, why is the media giving us snow in the winter time?

Why are these exposes by the media a day late and a dollar short?

From the lies about Iraq to unqualified Gov't officials we are always behind the "learning curve" for a "free press" to protect the American people from incompetent gov't.

How long were these interviews sitting on a shelf waiting for the day that this Administration f**ks up so they can show us all how on top of the story these lame a**holes are?

17. His online 'resume' has been SCRUBBED
Edited on Mon Sep-05-05 07:12 PM by Triana
A few days ago it mentioned his job with horses and as an estate handler (or some such thing) but now there is NO mention of it. It's been SCRUBBED since Katrina and since he's been exposed as having NO experience for his job. Interesting, eh? Did anyone happen to print or save the OLD UNscrubbed version?

_ _ _ _ _

Prior to working as FEMA director, was a "Judges and Stewards Commissioner" for the International Arabian Horses Association... a position from which he was forced to resign in the face of mounting litigation and financial disarray.

Brown's ticket to FEMA was Joe Allbaugh, President Bush's 2000 campaign manager and an old friend of Brown's in Oklahoma. When Bush ran for president in 2000, Brown was ending a rocky tenure at the horse association.

Brown told several association officials that if Bush were elected, he'd be in line for a good job. When Allbaugh, who managed Bush's campaign, took over FEMA in 2001, he took Brown with him as general counsel.

Brown's a Republican from the southwest. He ran unsuccessfully for Congress when he was thirty-three. Then he bounced from job to job, finally getting into the sports business in mid-life, before getting canned. And then he used connections to land himself a high-powered position in the federal government for which he had no apparent experience at all.

I quote all this from:

http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/week_2005_08_28.php

AND there was also a segment on NPR about it this afternoon.

22. Our Nation is prepared, as never before, to deal quickly and capably with
Remarks to Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Homeland Security
March 9, 2005

Our Nation is prepared, as never before, to deal quickly and capably with the consequences of disasters and other domestic incidents. However, despite continuing improvements to the national domestic incident architecture, planning for a comprehensive and effective response to - and recovery from - a catastrophic incident is still a challenge to the emergency management community.

20. someones figure head gotta roll
as long as it ain't bushes but what institutional changes will be made is the big question in my mind.

putting everything under HS seems to have not helped at all and in fact made it worse.

the big debate still is weather this centralizing was deliberate and required by the pnac architects to execute their political plans which requires centralization to exert complete authority (i think so) or was it incompetence by the mayberry Machiavellians?

usually i would go with incompetence but considering what we know about their plans (PNAC) and their recent history of actions it is hard to not see this as deliberate.

the one fly in the ointment this time though is that it looks like they didn't get complete control over the critical oil region like they had hoped, even after applying serious pain on the local authorities by refusing and blocking aid for many days, in order to come in on their white horse to save the day, that not only cost many american deaths but is now possibly beginning to blowback on them by the unexpected harsh treatment by their lapdogs in the M$M.

GOD HELP US ALL
