PLEASE help me debunk this letter about Cindy Sheehan!!!
Edited on Mon Sep-05-05 07:10 PM by smbolisnch
I checked snopes, no luck. Can this be debunked? Aside from it being misogynistic crap. I am fuming. I hate these mass emails.

"About Cindy Sheehan

What is most interesting to me is that the press gives this little bunch of people who are protesting with Cindy so much air time without discussing Cindy's background. This is a case of more press bias. It has been pointed out on just a couple of media outlets that Cindy divorced her first husband and left her son with him to be raised while she became a
political activist for the Democratic Party. She had very little to do with her son in his growing years.

She remarried. The 1st husband remarried. The original father raised the son with his new wife. They miss their son and mourn the loss of his life. They have stated that they are very proud of their son and that they agree with the stance of America in Iraq and on terror.
They said that their son was eager to serve and to go fight the terrorists in Iraq. He volunteered. How many news stations carried their interview? Not many.
So the son dies in Iraq and then Cindy shows up to make a stink. She gets an audience with Bush. That was not enough. She goes to Crawford and demands another audience. How many news stations carry the ongoing saga of Cindy? Practically all of them.

Cindy didn't care about her son. She let another woman raise him. Cindy doesn't care about the other soldiers in Iraq. Cindy cares about her liberal, feminist agenda and about using the death of her son no lobby against Republicans and Bush. And the press is helping her. Why?
Then 2 days ago, Cindy's 2nd husband filed for a divorce from Cindy. Cindy sounds like a feminist opportunist who did not have the sense of responsibility to even raise her own son. It looks like her 2nd husband is fed up with Cindy.

We middle Americans should be fed up with Cindy also. We should be fed up with the press. They manipulate us into their "group think" and into the responses that they want on their polls. "

ETA: I apologize if it has been debunked before, I couldn't find anything.

1. It it not even worthy of...
being debunked. It is hateful garbage, and should not even be posted here.

2. I would tell them
that Cindy's personal life is personal. The deeper issues of LIES and WAR are what they should be focused on.

Screw the Cindy Smear! In fact, why don't you give their letter back to them and instead include a little dossier about Bush and his coke snorting days!

3. Tell the emailer to back it up with proof
Demand it! I find that shuts 'em up almost every time.

No reason you should do their homework.

4. Don't bother.
What do you have when a wise man argues with a fool? Two fools.

If you care to respond in an appropriate way, get out your copy of Michael Moore's "Will They Ever Trust Us Again? Letters from the War Zone." It's filled with information on soldiers and their family members who oppose Bush and his war in Iraq.

The real question isn't why Cindy Sheehan is getting attention; it's why these others do not?

7. Shame game: calling all you white librel tree hugers:
Dear Ms. Sheehan:

I have so admired your work re: Camp Casey. I thought you had nerve when there was little to be found. It appears, sadly, that you are being manipulated by some people who don't understand how it is to lose a child in the war.

I guess you know this but I thought I would write you a note: the press is making quite a stink about you leaving your son when he was younger. I sure hope this didn't create a 'set up' so that he felt he needed to go to Iraq in order to 'prove himself.'

They are also stating something about your current husband divorcing you? I am sure that this is an incredible amount of stress on you. Perhaps you could seek some counseling? I know that this made a huge difference for me and my husband when we had problems.

Again, thank you for your hard work.

Sincerely,
white cracker Texan

8. It's not about Cindy anyway. Here's a link, in case you don't have it

already: www.crawfordpeacehouse.org and www.meetwithcindy.org

Look up Cindy's blog for comments she has made about personal attacks such as this one. She says that such attacks are smokescreens to prevent the hard questions from being raised, the ones she asks. What is the noble cause that Bush claims all the troops fight and die for? What is the mission that sends more troops to their death? If the cause is so noble, why doesn't Bush talk his own daughters into sacrifice and signing up to send home some stop-lossed, ready-reserve troops on their third tours in Iraq?

9. Consider it debunked
It is a matter of public record that Patrick Thomas Sheehan, Casey's father, filed for divorce from Cindy Sheehan on August 12, 2005, so the basis of the e-mail, i.e., divorce, remarriage of both parties, etc., is a complete lie.

10. Regardless of Cindy's personal life, Bush still needs to held accountable
for his lies leading us into the Iraq occupation. Cindy's personal life is no ones business but her own. Mr.bush's lies have gotten many people killed and he needs to be held accountable for them. That is the message.

Was the civil rights movement about Rosa Parks? The accountability and ending the Iraq occupation is not about Cindy Sheehan but Mr.bush and his evil minions.
