Idea that all have to get out even though their houses are not flooded. Some homes are dry. It makes much more sense to provide them with stores for food and water and let them live in their communities.

There are other problems besides the water. Disease, looters, and lack of communication to the outside world should something bad happen come to mind.

that place is toxic. if these people get sick they have no way of contact for treatment. There is no where to use the bathroom. The water is tainted. I believe these people SHOULD leave until basic water, communications, and bodies and dangerous debris and chemicals have been removed.

3. At this point, now that the storm is past

It should be up to the individual whether or not to stay or go. On the other hand it is no longer up to the government to bring food and water to them. If you stay behind then you need to be able to take care of yourself and to get to distribution centers for supplies. That's how it works in the rest of the hurricane zones in the US.

I feel for them - I understand their fear. Many of those people have never lived anywhere else. Me, I've lived all over the place, I feel no real attachment to any particular area, but most people just aren't like that. They feel secure at what has always been home.

I wish something could be worked out where they don't have to leave - but they'll also be out of money soon, because the ones of working age will not be having their jobs back anytime soon - and I can't see the government that failed to respond to everything else that has happened this week supplying these people with means. With no stores open, and if the food distribution is stopped ...

It's so damn sad. Something I thought I would never see in America. And something that never, ever, had to be in the first place.
