To all the Great Countries trying to help us....
Edited on Mon Sep-05-05 10:30 PM by Kali
You might want to rethink letting the Bush administration handle your most kind, and obviously much needed, offers of assistance. As you can see they are quite incapable of the simplest ability to plan, move, or distribute any aid to the most needy. Perhaps you should think about donating to actual charities or perhaps at the State level so that the poor residents of New Orleans and surrounding regions and states will actually benefit from your generosity.

Anybody know how to REALLY get this message out there?

1. I was thinking the same thing
I was wondering how their offers of help could get passed the Feds and directly to the victims. Even bypassing the State and Locals, if their hands are tied from accepting by the Feds.

A government for the people is needed. I think it's time the government for the corporation is abandoned.

2. Yes but sending money
is no solution...FEMA is spending half a billion a day...and so far with nothing to show for it.

4. Exactly!
So I'd rather we sent people with drugs and water purifiers etc, and have these people stay onsite to hand things out...directly to those who need it.

6. Germany has sent a liaison officer with the first load of goods.
At the time I wondered at that but evidently our officials knew more than I thought at the time. Good to have an official there who can watch what's happening - and report.

It has been reported over here that help was rejected at first and now that it's been accepted it is still rejected in so far as the Red Cross for instance is forbidden to enter NO etc. Everybody here is shaking their heads.

I see no solution, really, you know a country cannot act on a state or county level in another country without that country's consent. While I would never give money to the United States for this emergency - a country who has millions to spend every day occupying Iraq! - I WOULD donate to a civilian organization. But as long as I'm hearing stories like "Red Cross not allowed in NO", "doctors turned back outside NO", "buses returned empty to Wisconsin" - I won't donate a cent. Seems pointless, frankly.

7. Halo, Neweurope
Obviously we don't " has millions to spend every day occupying Iraq!"

We need that money at home. We need it for our future. Too bad the jerks in charge aren't REAL conservatives. They wouldn't be spending our children and grandchildrens money that way.

I worry how all the aid they finally decided to accept from around the world will actually be spent/used. I worry that Haliburton and such will make tons while the residents of the area will continue to suffer and live in danger.

8. That's my worry, too.
You know when chancellor Schröder - the very day the hurricane hit! - offered help (emergency rations, mobile homes and water purification plants) Bush rejected it and said that he WOULD accept CASH! "Halliburton and such" came to mind immediately. I have never, never ever in my life heard a head of state whose country was in distress demand cash.
