When the Los Angeles riots happened....
...did it take the Feds four days to get into the city?

Just curious.

1. Well there is a bit of a difference.
80% of L.A. wasn't underwater. Im not sticking up for the feds but its not the same thing.

2. A lot different.
Read "Rivers of Blood, Years of Darkness" if you really want to know.
This was actually a much more evil kind of thing, in its way. These
people did nothing to deserve what happened to them, they were just
in the way.

3. The first riots were a bit of an F**k up. The mayor of Los Angeles

refused to believe he needed help, but about day three he saw the light and the troops arrived within hours. My apartment building was behind the National Guard off Federal Avenue in W. Los Angeles. We were able to watch them from our bedroom window deploying. I no longer lived in Los Angeles after the Rodney King incident so I don't know really what happened there first hand.

On edit. Sorry a memory lapse here. In the first riot politicians who could have done something were on vacation or out of town somewhere, but I can't remember if it was the mayor or the governor.
