I know why Katrina happened
The fundamentalist christians say it is god punishing the wicked, gays, and abortionists etc.

The fundamentalist jews say it is god punishing because of our treatment of israel

The fundamentalist muslims say it is god punishing us because our support of israel and attack against arabs

GEE, I wonder what the buddists think?

2. I know what I think
they're all a bunch of hateful religious fanatics who have no compassion for human suffering whatsoever. If that is what God is about, all of you can take your God, and shove him up your collective fanatic assholes. A God like that is nothing more than a monster, and you cannot compel me to worship him / her / it. Get your Christian / Muslim / Jewish / Buddhist asses to NO and do what you can to relieve the suffering, or shut the fuck up.

6. Dylan wrote a song about this
Oh my name it is nothin'
My age it means less
The country I come from
Is called the Midwest
I's taught and brought up there
The laws to abide
And that land that I live in
Has God on its side.

Oh the history books tell it
They tell it so well
The cavalries charged
The Indians fell
The cavalries charged
The Indians died
Oh the country was young
With God on its side.

Oh the Spanish-American
War had its day
And the Civil War too
Was soon laid away
And the names of the heroes
I's made to memorize
With guns in their hands
And God on their side.

Oh the First World War, boys
It closed out its fate
The reason for fighting
I never got straight
But I learned to accept it
Accept it with pride
For you don't count the dead
When God's on your side.

When the Second World War
Came to an end
We forgave the Germans
And we were friends
Though they murdered six million
In the ovens they fried
The Germans now too
Have God on their side.

I've learned to hate Russians
All through my whole life
If another war starts
It's them we must fight
To hate them and fear them
To run and to hide
And accept it all bravely
With God on my side.

But now we got weapons
Of the chemical dust
If fire them we're forced to
Then fire them we must
One push of the button
And a shot the world wide
And you never ask questions
When God's on your side.

In a many dark hour
I've been thinkin' about this
That Jesus Christ
Was betrayed by a kiss
But I can't think for you
You'll have to decide
Whether Judas Iscariot
Had God on his side.

So now as I'm leavin'
I'm weary as Hell
The confusion I'm feelin'
Ain't no tongue can tell
The words fill my head
And fall to the floor
If God's on our side
He'll stop the next war.

4. That the fundamentalists are punishing us
because God will not.

"A monk asked Tozan, "How can we escape the cold and heat?" Tozan replied, "Why not go where there is no cold and heat?" "Is there such a place?" the monk asked. Tozan commented, "When cold, be thoroughly cold; when hot, be hot through and through."

5. The Sun did it.!
We must destroy the Sun immediately!

Let's throw every weapon we've got at it.

I recommend a night assault.

10. I say it is a side affect of Global Warming(making it stronger/morelikely)
Edited on Tue Sep-06-05 01:11 AM by jsamuel
Tampa, FL has reported that the Gulf Stream has slowed down due to environmental factors...

This causes a more stagnant Gulf of Mexico and thus increases the temp of the Gulf. This causes hurricanes to be more likely to happen and stronger when they pass through the Gulf.

12. The buddhists think that looking for cause is futility
you are better served looking for the solution, and the solution is compassion in action.

This agnostic says its because the religious nutjobs have been too busy fighting with each other and we up and forgot about little things like science and engineering... specifically meterology and urban planning.

17. Some astrologers will tell you it happened b/c of Junior's Saturn return
A Saturn return (once every 28 years) brings the taskmaster planet Saturn back to the position it was at your birth. If you've been building bad karma, this is the time when it bites you in the ass.

19. Well, it was God's fault, of course!
Don't they call these natural disasters acts of god? That means the US was attacked by Heaven, specifically by Osama bin Godden. And the next logical step, if Hesitant Bush repeats himself, would be to attack Purgatory instead, because that's where all the Hurricanes of Mass Destruction (HMDs) are hidden.

Attacking Purgatory can't be any worse than attacking Iraq.
