Some plan needs to be put in place so people that are poor or have no car/lack of money could get out. It is not fair that these people do not have a choice.

9. The really scary thing is that many feared this in 2004--

People like Alfre Woodard, went down south, and registered people to vote. She said this Admin. scared her as she could see them taking this country back many years in terms of progress.

I saw it, my friends (black, mexican, gay, women, etc.) saw it. We ALL saw the handwriting on the wall. While what happened this week was shocking, sickening and horrible in a sad way, we all knew they were capable of this.

BTW, this is NOT an 'I told you so' post. I know I am 'preaching to the choir' so to speak--when I say these things here.

"I heard on Democratic Underground that the Congressional Black Caucus has been receiving racist telephone calls. Believe me, they do NOT represent MY views. I'm not black, I'm white, but I have decency and a respect for human life in my heart, not hate.

After watching the aftermath of Katrina, I was HORRIFIED. And yet no one said anything about the lapses that led to that horror until the Congressional Black Caucus spoke out. For the first time in too long, someone spoke in Congress who represented ME. My heart can't bear the lack of compassion that has taken over our country, and taken over the hearts of those who would stand by and watch people suffer and die for lack of food and water because Bush - their blasphemous god - was behind it.

Someone, somewhere has to speak up about right and wrong. Thank you, THANK YOU for speaking for ME and telling the world that what was happening was wrong! I know it's hard to stand strong in the face of the hate that is filling our world, but the only way to counter hate is to confront it. You are not alone in this. They seek to divide us and make us feel as if we are the minority, as if the nation as a whole doesn't believe as we do, but deep down inside most Americans have a very firm belief in what's right and wrong.
