I'm going to stay with the Democratic Party
I became emotional the other night and threatened to leave after 31 years with the Dems. Because of Bill Clinton, Mary Landrieu and the anticipated Congressional hearings to come, I'm staying as a proud Democrat. This political game is so complicated and difficult at times, and discretion is the better part of valor at times. I have enduring faith that our leaders can help us resurrect this country to true greatness.

1. These are frustrating times, steve...
...and it's very easy to feel overwhelmed by everything.

But, I have a feeling that the Bush cabal ISN'T going to get away with this. They fucked up bigger than any administration in modern US history. For that, they're gonna FRY!

2. I'm waiting to see how this all plays out.
It took ONE WEEK to hear ANYTHING from our Democratic 'leaders' ***cough-cough***.....I'm waiting to see how far they take this. Will they FIGHT for their disaster relief program? Or will they just give it a token effort?

Will they vote for Roberts for SCJ?

Will they filibuster the Social Security bill?

Will they vote for the Estate Tax repeal?

They, IMCPO, have enabled this regime. (IWR, Patriot Act, Bankruptcy Bill, Medicare Bill, ect...) We need some *TOUGH LOVE* from the Democrats and we need it NOW. I'm waiting to see what they do over the next few weeks/months and it had better be good.

3. For me it all depends what they do when they get back from break
If they don't fight for Democratic values what is the point

The Plame outing should be revealed soon, and if this administration has been implicated in outing a CIA agent, ANYONE they nominate for the SUPREME COURT should be delayed, until we find out if this administration committed a crime or at worst treason

If the Democratic leadership does NOT fight when they get back from recess, either they should be voted out, or it is time for me to look for alternatives

4. The Democratic Party Is Dead
It needs a funeral and rebirth.

Our current leadership has failed us miserably.

5. I am staying...for now.
But it becomes all the more clear to me, a moderate, that we have one party here...with two different names.

6. I'm here for now, but mark my words....
..and I'm not one who has ever said or would ever say this lightly: but if they do not pursue this and pursue this hard, and if it is appararent they are doing so out of political fear for their own careers, I WILL not support this party ever again. I don't expect anyone on here to know just how big a statement that is coming from me who is one of the biggest pragmatic realists you can imagine and who has defended most of the seemingly cowardly actions of many of our leaders, or at the very least been willing to concede the wisdom in some actions I might not immediately see. But no more. This is their moment of truth.

So far I like what I see but there is still so much more to be done.

8. Nah, I have left, no more automatic votes for spineless dems!
All this wouldnt be happening if the party of (NO) opposition had spoken up. The dems are equally responsiable for the state of our union today and I cant stomach politicians today with only a handful of exceptions.

I will never forget December 12, 2000!

11. This site name is misleading
b/c as you can read from many posts even in this thread: Alot of people are not dems at all. They are way to the left of the Dem party in general.

So if you left you would upset few people around here it would seem b/c alot of them already left or were never in it to begin with

As for me: I am glad you are staying- Alot of Dems have their hearts, if not their attitudes, in the right place. We are just struggling to find a voice these days and a message that gets through. In my mind this is the time that the party needs all of us more then ever before. Its not a time to leave it, but to help shape it
