Too bad for Katrina victims that they weren't "a great political issue."
Remember how Bush and the Republican Congress acted to protect Terri Schiavo when she was in danger of losing her feeding tube? They called Congress back to Washington for a special session to enact emergency legislation late at night. After all, they strongly believe in a "culture of life," right?

It's too bad for the people of the Gulf coast that Karl Rove and the Republicans didn't consider their lives to be "a great political issue" or a "tough issue for Democrats" as they did the Schiavo affair, described as such in a talking points memo.

What if Bill Frist had played video of people starving to death on their rooftops in New Orleans and diagnosed them as being able to "respond to visual stimuli." Would the Republicans have then desired to help these people?

I guess we'll never know.

2. Terri Schiavo had parents who gave a lot of money to the repuke
campaign. These people in New Orleans didn't do anything for brush, so he didn't do anything for them. That's how the neoconservatives and cronyism work. You only help those who help you. Well look how far this mentality has gotten the neocons. They control the entire federal government. It works until you are required by law and moral obligation to help someone outside your base (the haves and have mores are the repukes base). Then the whole ineffective, corrupt process is exposed for what it is. A scheme to make the rich richer.
