Not even Bush kissing his ass will keep Lott Quiet
Remember Shrubby said that he's going to make a priorty of rebuilding one of Trent Lott's houses.

So Lott pays him back with this:

Cut the red tape, Lott says
Criticizes FEMA for holding up 20,000 trailers 'sitting in Atlanta'

Tuesday, September 6, 2005 Posted: 0112 GMT (0912 HKT)

POPLARVILLE, Mississippi (CNN) -- Sen. Trent Lott berated both the Federal Emergency Management Agency and his own state's emergency management, MEMA, for being mired in red tape at a time of urgent need given the devastation left by Hurricane Katrina.

Lott said he has been trying to get FEMA to send 20,000 trailers "sitting in Atlanta" to the Mississippi coast, and he urged President Bush during a meeting Monday to intervene. He said FEMA has refused to ship the trailers until contracts are secured.

"FEMA and MEMA need to be saying, 'Yes' to Mississippi's needs, not, 'No.," the former majority leader said in a written statement.

"Mississippians are homeless, hungry and hurting."

Similar stories of governmental red tape have been reported elsewhere, including a case of 100 surgeons and paramedics hindered from caring for hurricane victims in rural Mississippi.

The Rest Of The Story

4. I don't think he wants to run for President
or I don't thik he think's that's on the table. But stickin the knife in the administration that turned it's back on him when he was hurting (the Thurmond comment situation) might have it's own pleasures.

8. I have been postulating this for awhile, Lott is poised for REVENGE
Edited on Tue Sep-06-05 09:51 AM by MADem
It's why chimpy's first public appearance was to try to mollify him. That was real fear operating there.

Lott is pissed that chimp pushed him aside over the Strom thing, which WAS dying down after Trent went on BET and apologized, and installed the more malleable toady, Frist. See, Lott had real power, and Cheney wanted a robot-boy to do his bidding in Frist.

Lott kept his staff, his car, his driver, his perks, his large conference room, even after giving up the (ed) Majority Leader role--he still has clout. He can throw a monkey wrench in the works of any legislation, or grease it through--he is like a "Shadow Leader" of sorts. When Frist needs him to make something happen, he demands and receives concessions. The only thing he lost when he lost the Leader role was the prestige and the headaches--he kept most, if not all, of his pull.

Lott has been biding his time since the chimp/Cheney completely abandoned him and threw him to the wolves, waiting for the moment to extract that thin-lipped, ripshit-mean, up-yer-ass REVENGE.

The time, Trent, is NOW. Unleash them dawgs!!!!

17. Did you see him on the Daily Show last week?
He was literally agreeing with Jon Stewart on the Iraq War basically being a mistake. I forget the quote, but it was clear that Lott is off the reservation.
