he'll get an initial bump, just because we do rally around the president in times of crisis, and then he'll continue his slide. As the reality and the magnitude of this disaster become increasingly visible, his inaction will highlight his weakness and ineptitude.
Plus, the continuing gas prices will make those normally supportive become suspicious of Bush and his corporate servitude.
And the wingnuts hate to be on the side of a loser. They like the "whup ass" macho attitude.
As that's peeled away, they'll turn on Bush. It's already happening. Fewer "W" stickers.
And an overall tone in our country that this administration is too political, too secretive, and too driven by personal greed.
Plus, the Republican party is facing a split between their old-liner fiscal conservatives and the Santorum wing of fundamentalists.
Their unification is over. The canny Congressmen can smell the blood. They'll turn on Bush to try and save their own careers.
Given time, Republicans always eat their own.
Katrina has brought out the conservative cannibals.
