May Larry King rot in hell
I've been pissed over so many atrocities over the last week that new ones almost seem normal now, but has anyone else wanted to smack the shit out of Larry King this week?

He's been interviewing people at the Astrodome and whenever the person is black he speaks in a careful, patronizing way - like they're simpletons or small children - but what's really chapped my ass is how he asks every single person "Why did you stay?".

These people have already been brutalized by being left to die at the Superdome or Convention Center, having to beg for a cup of water so their children or elderly parents don't die, and here he's brutalizing them a second time by trying to force them to confess to being poor on national television to a smug, Bush-voting multimillionaire. I just want to choke the fucker every time he does it. So many of these people lost everything, including family members, and he tries to strip them of their dignity on top of it. It's sick and immoral, just like the president he loves. He claims to have a star-studded event on Saturday to help the victims, then he grinds them right into the ground when he gets hold of one. It just makes me wild with anger.

1. Larry King: Media whore.
Instead of reporting news, he spends more time interviewing celeberities and has-beens our touting their latest "book."

I've always wanted to take those stupid suspenders, grab them, swing him around and let go, just to watch how far he can be flung.

5. It's a shame Larry doesn't know his racism is there.
Why don't you e-mail him and tell him what he's doing?
Who knows, he just might wake up.

6. I personally don't think he's mean or uncaring, I think he's just clueless
about it. (I'm no King fan, but I don't think he's intentionally "against us" either.)

But this blame the victim thing helps his Republican friends, so he's not going to stop doing it. Party over humanity and decency, you know.

8. That's been ticking me off also.
He's had guests on the show who have said over and over again that the people were poor and didn't have cars. He knows damn well. He's just sticking to the script that he was given by Rove.

10. Have you ever thought that he is trying to underscore a point?
The meme, as put out by Michael Brown and all of these other neocons is that people stayed behind simply because they were stupid, or that they wanted to loot in the aftermath. I think that Larry is trying to bring out the true reasons that people stayed, and how this government failed the neediest amongst us.

11. He's already rotting. Just look at his face. He's being eaten alive.
Couldn't happen to a more appropriate person, either.

15. I think he's asking this question to bring attention to the problem
Of why they did stay... poverty. In fact, and I say this as a professional journalist, it's the one question I'd be asking over and over again.

Question; "Why didn't you flee the hurricane?"
Answer: "I make $5.15 and hour and couldn't afford to."
Question; "Why didn't you walk out after the hurricane?"
Answer: "Fema set up a roadblock and would't let us leave."

See the point I'm making?
The only way to find out why this went wrong, is to stop ignoring the obvious and ask the people why they left. It's the best way to get people to understand why this happened.

Of course, I suppose if he hadn't asked anything at all you people would be screaming and yelling about "LARRY KING IS IGNORING THE MOST BASIC FACT, THAT THESE PEOPL WERE TOO POOR TO LEAVE!" Or something.
