Well, actually I wouldn't--I'd choose the much superior H&K MP5.

But I would definitely arm my officers with machineguns. The Polizei in Germany have armed their officers with MP5s for decades, and it works for them.

(There is, however, no comparison between the Polizei and American law enforcement. The Germans gave the Polizei the job of catching the Baader-Meinhof Gang and the Red Army Faction, and now the BMG and the RAF are no more. Bush gave the Army the job of catching Osama until he got bored, and Osama is still around.)
