My take: * ignored K to up oil prices and get the max for Halliburton
reconstruction contracts. I have been led inevitably to this conclusion by recent events including price gouging at the pumps, even before the hurricane hit, and Halliburton's latest boondoggle bonanza.

I just don't understand the apathy among this country's citizens when such blatant corruption is taking place, resulting in tens of thousands of lost American lives, diminished national security, and destruction of our economy.

:wtf::wtf::wtf: :argh:

1. I don't see how ignoring the citizens "helps"
Bringing food water and medicine would not affect either gas prices or Halliburton's contracts. But those do seem to be the only things that they really care about.

2. That was my thought, too.
I just thought it was so tranparent though, that not even a monster such as he would have the nerve to do that.

5. His outrages continue to shock me.
I thought after Iraq nothing those bastards did could bowl me over.

It's going to be a long 3+ years.

3. Who else here has the suspicion that...
Halliburton IS the government in corporate clothing?

4. And let's not forget his absolute CONTEMPT for the 'little people.'
Bush has made the underpriviledged into the Jews of Hitler's Germany.

The Bush plan is simple. Vilify them, arouse public ire against them by blaming them for all society's problems, then execute them (in this case, by withholding emergency aid). Hitler's plan for the Jews, Bush's plan for the poor, the black, and Democrats.

6. I think you guys give this administration too much credit
They are just so fucking incompetent - but yes, they could care less about the "little" people.

7. Re: Halliburton
Umm, aren't there laws governing a bidding process for contracts? How does Halliburton keep getting "no-bid" contracts?

And yes, I agree about the apathy. It really seems that this government has declared itself "above the law" and that those of us who are outraged are also powerless.

8. We are powerless. And most of this country's citizens may soon
be on metaphorical roofs waiting, futilely, for help. But the * monarchy will have been installed and that's all that matters to the dauphin.

9. They simply didn't want to spend any real money on New Orleans
A few billion would have fixed it all up, but that money has gone elsewhere. I see the whole thing as a case of neglect.

10. That's true. But I'm talking about what happened after the fact.
* let the situation deteriorate to its present state of total disaster. The government is going to be spending much MORE money than it would have spent had they intervened earlier. But, allowing the maximum damage to occur gave oil companies an excuse to gouge, and made it possible for the bushies to award a massive reconstruction contract to Halliburton. Don't you find it suspicious that Halliburton has ALREADY been awarded the contract? No bidding took place, again (ala Iraq), and the contract was given Halliburton within a few days following the hurricane.
