I'm angry. You're angry. Reading the threads today, seems many "little people" are furious and horrified about what went down last week.

So what we gonna do?

It sure would be nice if a prominent Democrat came out and said "Support my efforts to impeach the 'president'/fire Michael Brown/whatever. Call here, send $$," etc.

I've already given money to the Red Cross. I'm going to buy whatever I can and send it somewhere. But then what? Sit and fume?

I've also heard a couple times now "What good is knowing about it, you can't do anything anyway."

"Republicans won't impeach Bush, so we just have to wait I guess."

"They always get away with everything, this is no different."

What should I tell these people? I've been telling them about the midterms and to donate and to make sure they talk to other people, but...

Sigh.

1. Do democratic officials ALSO want to get rid of FEMA?
Or get rid of federal disaster help? It sure seems it. They seem no different from the Reds.

3. That's what I keep looking in here for
a concerted "something" by EVERYONE!!

There are plenty of ideas being floated, but nothing that has the full weight of the entire DU community.

I dunno. I'm not that good at coming up with the ideas, words - I KNOW there are people on DU that are. Just that we need to have ONE GOOD IDEA to all rally behind so that we are ALL DOING it!

5. Exactly.
We (and all the regular citizens who are angry about this) could be a force to be reckoned with if we all decided on something.

You'd think our "leaders" would harness that.

Umm....still waiting....maybe they're all actually helping people, like Al Gore?

6. A leader could emerge right now so easily.
But no one's stepping up.

Democratic leader who lost his home is organizing in TX.

He lost his home and everything in LA, and he is setting up operations in Texas.

Be sure to keep up with the latest at the DNC blog. He is in TX setting up operations there. The blog has great updates all day.

Louis Rainey, the Political Director for Louisiana's Democratic Party, and his family are safe but they have lost everything. Their house is gone. He is now in Dallas, Texas and he is in recovery mode. He has set up a command post in The Marriot Courtyard in Dallas Texas.

He has got the hotel to cut prices in half and is himself paying for rooms for dislocated people. The shelters are full and can't accept any more people. He has taken it upon himself to contact everyone he knows to try and get these people help. He is asking us to send gas and food vouchers, gift cards to the Marriott, anything that can be spared to help these people.

Please give what you can. You can send gift cards or even write a check to the Marriott to subsidize the cost of rooms that the Marriot is providing at a discounted rate.

Hotel information:
Marriot Courtyard
2383 Stemmons Road
Dallas, Texas 75220
