Here's hoping I get a response...but I'm not holding my breath:
Dear Ms. DeGette:
First off, let me say that I'm shocked and disgusted with the Government's reponse to the Katrina disaster.
Another thing that dismays me is that I've heard hardly a word from the Colorado delegation for the House and Senate. I understand everyone was on vacation, but for Pete's sake, wasn't there opportunity for members to respond? How disappointing that no one from Colorado was willing to speak up.
Next, who from Colorado will speak up to defend the local government, Mayor of New Orleans and Governor of Louisiana, against attacks that they failed their people. From what I can discern, the local government did all it could, it was FEMA and DHS, and ultimately the President who dropped the ball. Will you be speaking out and calling for investigations about the delays and refusals from FEMA for help? Frankly, I think Democrats should stand in solidarity and demand answers and call for investigations.
I'd like to hear your honest thoughts about this and not receive just some form letter. I'd like to know that you're on the side of the people and not backing a President and his administration that are clearly unable to cope with the aftermath of Katrina.
