Any insight out there re: Keith O's sign off announcement tonight?

re: the departure of his boss. Hope it isn't ominous for his show. keith said he was the man who developed the countdown concept. Just curious given the timing after Keiths wonderful rant on Monday night.

7. I took it to be a reference to something that Neal told the staff.

"Don't waste the people's time." Something like that. He often makes more personal references when a story of moment involves someone he knows or worked with.

Here's hoping he's not disgusted enough to leave.

Crap...who did he say, Shapiro - Shapiro is who yelled at Keith.

Keith wished him good luck and said, "I'll stop wasting the viewer's time." I took THAT to mean - shut up and get on with the news. You don't waste the viewer's time with shit that's meaningless, personal stuff like saying good-bye and the like.

However - IF Keith goes, so does my viewership of MSNBC. I don't like those on during the day. They're too fucking perfect and I'm not into perfect people.

9. People, people... SHAPIRO IS NOT THE ONE WHO YELLED AT KEITH.

KAPLAN is the one who allegedly yelled at Keith after his antismoking tirade a few weeks back. NOT Shapiro.

He is the one who came up with the Countdown concept and supported Keith and the show. He is stepping down from his job, so Keith took the opportunity to thank him. Keith's statement that he would "stop wasting the viewers' time" was his way of saying that Shapiro would not have wanted him to spend time thanking Shapiro publicly on his show because he was MODEST.
