I was driving my daughter to school this morning listening to two FM jockeys talking about Katrina and the rescue efforts/fund drives. The man, I believe his name is Joel starts ranting about Sean "Diddy" Combs and his comments on starting a fund specifically for African American Aid in disaster. The DJ was upset because he finds this racist and it "furthers the divide between white and black". Now, I ask you this...Did we ( I used that term loosely) not further the divide ourselves by basically telling these people, through our own inaction, that we don't care? It is a sad day when this idea of a separate fund is brought up, BUT, we caused the need. Our own Former First Lady :puke: has no respect for them, and there is no uproar (not nearly enough IMO) over that. What should we have them do, now that we have proven, again IMO, that racism is alive and well and even thriving in this country. Of course, covered in the veil of other, more palatable terms such as "underprivileged".
It truly made me sick that this man was not so much commenting on the sad state of affairs in this country, but on the personal affront he felt.
