So how did * pit Nagin and Blanco against each other?
He had meetings with both. What did he promise if each would turn on the other?

1. Your question assumes that he succeeded in doing so.
What makes you say that?

3. Because after he met with them in LA, the tone shifted with
them. Something stinks. But when * is around, a stink follows. I particularly am suspicious of Nagin. I think he has a good heart but I distrust people who switch ideological affialiations abruptly.

6. You could also say the media stopped covering them after the White House
started covertly "blame gaming" them.

2. * probably promised blank check for NO if Nagin blames Blanco.

Nagin could then return to the Repug fold after a proper period of mourning.

Did that happen? :tinfoilhat:

4. I don't think that happened at all
I do think both Nagin and Blanco were intimidated/threatened in some way to STFU, and they have been less vocal, although Landrieu and other local elected officials haven't been. But I've also seen no evidence they've turned on each other, Jody. I agree.

5. I wouldn't put it past Bush, who bribed half of the world into Iraq, but
I think Nagin is clearly too pissed off about the lack of response to buckle down to Bush. He is playing along, but I don't doubt that he is still seething about what was done to and not done for his city.

7. 'cause someone from Louisiana will take the blame
Nagin has turned on Governor Blanco ‘cause he knows the ultimate blame, and punishment, for this fiasco will fall on the local or state level. Bush doesn’t face another election and it is 14 months until the mid-terms so most people from other states will have long forgotten about this.

However, the citizens of New Orleans and Louisiana will not be so kind.

Nagin understands that there are investigations coming, and probably a Grand Jury. Nagin is former Republican so I imagine both Dems and Repubs will blame him. Nagin knows this and is trying to blame Blanco.

8. I don't think there's much love lost there anyway
Didn't he support Blanco's Republican opponent during her election?
